The sigma art series lenses are fantastic. I sold the 35 in favor of the 50 as the 35 had a little too much perspective distortion for what I was shooting. I haven't shot the sigma 24-70 but did rent the 24-70 for an event. Worked great. Might not matter unless you shoot wide open on sunny days. In terms of low light performance and dynamic range they are essentially the same. The image quality of the D800 eeks out slightly ahead but I doubt it is noticeable. It's amazing how fast the prices of the D800 have dropped - the D700 price decline was far gentler. Those bodies have more actuations though but the shutter is rated for 150k. Not much to worry about unless you are really going to put 120k actuations before you sell the body.

Thanks Wayne, I've read the book. Don't remember there being anything in there about supplicating to bullies though. For what it's worth, my responses were cordial to those who weren't just trying to be a bully. I mentioned that the rest export only worked for 5 pages and then Dan quoted Todd's post again. Doesn't seem terribly helpful to me. If the thick skinned argument is to be used then it goes both ways. Otherwise I don't see Dan's posts of being any help. Export to pdf works for the entire document. Export to txt only exports the first 5 pages.

I had no intention of continuing to work on it. I did it because I am part of the photography club and the head instructor asked as a favor and I stupidly said yes without realizing how much work it would be. Next year I am off on rotations at hospital (not on campus anymore) so if they want to edit the final document, they can do it themselves or ask the next photo club member/officer to take on the project. Given the current state, I can't even pass it off to someone else as they wouldn't be able to edit the manual either. They provide functions of a text editor within the app, just lock the moving of things to the section level arbitrarily. Don't think it would have killed them to extend it to the page level. There are labs on campus that have it and Acrobat Pro but my credentials only work for labs in the medical school buildings which have no need for publishing software like InDesign. Everyone doing research just uses the Word templates available for the Journals they are submitting to. Trying to see if I can export to pdf and then use an OCR to convert it to a word document. Failing that, I guess I'll have to copy/paste the hundreds of paragraphs individually as the pictures are dispersed amongst the text.

Dude, you can't add pages in the middle of the book, only at the end. The scope of knowledge does not stay stagnant from edition to edition for any book. New research comes out. Shit changes. Old ideas are phased out. Even if you want to just add a paragraph to an already full page, you would need to change the font of just that one page just to fit the extra info in which would look different from the rest of the book. Do you really have nothing better to do? Why not learn about what the program is (in)capable of before you make nonsensical posts.

I wasn't looking to publish and sell it on Amazon. It was just something simple for the next classes to use with some tricks for identifying stuff on exams where students just have 30 seconds at each station (approved by the instructors). I wanted something simple that would just work. Had good experiences with Apple products in the past and found a template that did exactly what I was looking to do so started using it. If I were actually going to publish it for anyone outside of the next few medical school classes, I would have paid someone to do the layout/publishing for me so I could put it on my resume. The department didn't want to pay for it and I am doing it entirely on a volunteer basis without getting anything in return so I wasn't inclined to spend the $1000 on an editor either.

Chapters are divided into sections and sections into pages. I just had chapters split into pages with each page getting pictures of the part of brain being discussed followed by text about the structure. I wrote it as I edited the pictures, not in the order they will be seen during the lab in January. The old manual had hand drawn structures which don't match what we see in the actual lab so the past 7 months of work need to be redone. Sure I can copy paste individual paragraphs but this is fucking ridiculous. The text boxes can be unlinked but they don't stay unlinked when you try to move the page. I don't see what the issue is with allowing users to unlink temporarily to move pages around and then link it all again. OR JUST FUCKING LET PEOPLE MOVE PAGES AROUND.

I say this with the best of intentions. Law schools arent going anywhere. Neither is Duke. Both have been around for a while and will likely continue to do so. I needed surgery in the past and had treatments to undergo for a malignant cancer and I continued going to school because at 22 I thought that was the most important think in my life. Looking back, had I taken the year off like the doctors suggested and then gone back, nothing would be different. Life would continue to go on. My suggestion would be to listen to the surgeon. Do exactly as the doctors say. Don't think about getting delayed a year or two. I'm in medical school right now and if my loans allowed it I would take the year off to get the surgery I need for my knee. Still trying to get a research spot so I can get my knee repaired. In the grand scheme of things, she needs to understand her health comes first. School isn't going anywhere. She has a lifetime ahead of her to make it to whatever academic designation she wishes to end at. She needs to concentrate on getting back to herself first. The same goes for you. Wish you both a speedy recovery.

Any suggestions for Red wine for a beef stew? Cooked a steak once with wine a long time ago. Didnt like it much. The stew I've had at restaurants I've enjoyed so wanted to give it a try. Blocking a highway is quite possibly the dumbest thing anyone protesting can do. I am not against the protests but blocking the highway has resulted in one of my classmates being forced to give birth in her car on Friday (the baby did not survive due to complications at birth) and 3 physicians not being able to get the ER on time, one of whom was a trauma surgeon. Are the protesters assuming responsibility for any lives put in unnecessary danger or those lost as a direct consequence of their actions? While I am not black, I have been on the receiving end of racist remarks and actions on more occasions than I care to count. Given the current climate, there's a very high likelihood of getting arrested at a protest if things get slightly out of hand. Blocking a street where traffic can at least be diverted one thing but blocking a highway is irresponsible regardless of how worthy the cause is. Lives have already been lost and more continue to be lost as a result of some very emotionally charged people acting irresponsibly. The right to peacefully protest is a constitutionally protected one but there is a time and more importantly a place for it. Highways are NOT it.

Got an email back from schiit saying the dac was noisy with the grado gr10 which is not as sensitive as the Jh 16. recommended I cancel the order since it was not the tool for the job. Extremely impressed with their honesty. Will likely buy from them in the future.
