just ordered a gorillapod. it was cheap enough ($15 + free shipping with amazon prime) so not burning a big hole in my pocket. ugh...now i see how photography gets to be such an expensive hobby. it is fun however. in the past i only ever took seriously shitty pictures so when i randomly get lucky and get a decent one, it feels good. makes me want to practice and get better pictures.

any suggestions for a cheapish tripod? i have really really really really shaky hands. even with the is i can sometimes fuck things up pretty bad. i saw some of those mini tripod that are like an inch big on amazon, any good? also the battery on the s95 runs out after about 300 clicks/10 hours. is that normal?

high iso pictures were too bright. too low came out too dark. i kept messing around with 400, 500, and 640. the green light is actually from the router sitting right below the tube. i tried to kill every single light in the room but couldnt be bothered beyond just flipping the light switch for the over head lights heh. the slight blue (not purple, purple was the tube) tint was actually from my mouse which i had already covered with a sheet of paper. but i guess with an exposure that long, whatever little light is there gets sucked in?

suggestions for improvement would be mighty nice having been playing around with the s95 for about an hour now. dont know what a lot of the things mean but i am getting the hang of what each thing does or how lowering one value fucks shit up. anyhow, heres the best i came up with in the last hour.

i haz a sad just sat here in my office and graded shit for 8 hours straight after sitting for a 3.5 hour exam. i want my vacation damnit anyhow, have a good time guys. wish i were there to not drink.

all the grad exams end this wednesday so all the international students are flying out on thursday and all the ones from us already said they will be out of town/not on campus and therefore dont want to do it. i emailed the chair about this nonsense a few hours ago. lets see what he says. if he says i have to do it then no meet for me dr. douche just didnt like the idea of me not following his instructions to the dot and now that he knows i had plans he is trying to screw me over more by saying that he only wants me to proctor...cant believe people can be such butts at times.

i didnt ask the undergrad to grade them for me. just proctor which requires him to sit there and do nothing if he pleases.

i fucking hate tenured professors... anyone driving up on saturday night by any chance? might have to miss this one as well. =/ paid an undergrad $60 to proctor an exam an asshole of a professor wanted me to proctor for him because he doesnt want to do it himself. douchenozzle professor found out and just came to my office with my phd contract saying that proctoring was part of my duties...arguing with him about what difference it made if i did it or an ugrad did it made things worse. should have kept my mouth shut. unless i can get the chair involved which at this stage i will because i am not just proctoring for him but grading his fucking final as well, im screwed out of yet another meet told him i already had plans and had booked plane tickets as well and he responded with, "well now you know better than to make academics your second priority." fffffffffuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu i hereby give all hc members the authority to kill me if i ever become this kind of professor.

the prices arent bad at all. i just have issues with anyplace that doesnt let me wear shorts.

never heard a gs1. that would be nice. actually i have never heard any of the gear listed shelly but i think ben said he could bring the 800. not sure though. i think shelly's is maybe the 3rd post in 460 about gear

just figured out how to get the remote to work. have to remove the back panel from the remote and remove a tab that is prevent the battery circuit from completing. both remote and dac seem solid. kinda wish that werent the case. one the guys around here just got his bike stolen...oh well. the thing is cheap enough to where i could get two. but that would be a waste. might get another desk and put all the audio stuff underneath that one to hide it. sonically i like it. if memory serves me well, its faster than the parasound 1100 and gamma 2. one of the better sources ive heard. yes i know ive been using my laptop as a source.

very very very nice dac. waaaaaaay nicer bass than gamma 2 based on 10 minutes of listening. sounds faster/more nimble. can now hear things i wasnt hearing with the sound card. (using usb + foobar). build quality is pretty nice. only wish i could get the damn remote to do something =/
