Look What I Just Got!
Thanks ryan, speaker output debacle aside I'm pretty pleased with how it all came together. I think it represents a culmination of a lot of what I've learned building other projects. And of course, in truth, the entire thing will be getting diassembled and reassembled prior to shipping so that each and every connector can get a dose of loctite. I'm not looking forward to that.

Look What I Just Got!
Well, I had to let it go since mike didn't want it once I couldn't figure out why the speaker output didn't work.

Do you expect them to restock so they can once again sell them at a loss? Get over it.

Deals
I'd guess they were inundated with web and possibly phone orders so there were bound to be some extras that got placed but couldn't be filled.

a few concerns with my latest aquisition (sp extreme)
That'd be a pretty un-fun venture if you ask me. Nothing like founding a company that exists for the express purpose of dealing with another company's unsatisfied/pissed-off customers. The other issue would be that a lot of these repairs should be covered under warranty which no third party would be able to offer. cj, you should look into the warranty status of your amp. May be that the repairs won't cost you anything more than shipping?

Bittorrent
I use less torrent, more rapidshare. For me the speeds are faster and the content more reliable. You have to know where to look for stuff but once you figure that out there is an amazing amount of material out there. I'm forever grateful to rapidshare for providing the entire history of Top Gear episodes.

HE 1.2B and Buffalo Loaner Program.
It's hard to say Earl. Most of the supply issues have just been a result of underestimating demand for the buffalo DAC coupled with the fact that both Brian and Russ both do this in their spare time. I just went back and checked the DIY Audio thread that has the most recent Counterpoint (the discrete stage) information, evidently they found an issue while testing the prototype and are still working on it, ETA unknown.

HE 1.2B and Buffalo Loaner Program.
I think Twisted Pear's discrete output stage is just about done as well.

Post the last thing you bought!
For now you really should just try to track down an SRM1 or SRD7 so you can at least enjoy them. Both of those would be pretty flippable for minimal loss down the road.

What did you do today?
Got some work done on a certain beta22 project. It was my first time working with the s24/e24 pieces and there were a few hiccups, but nothing terminal. Power supply is now fully functional and tonight I should get rolling on installing the amp boards into the chassis.

a few concerns with my latest aquisition (sp extreme)
The manual for my Jackson 648S does and I've seen it in others so I guess we've just been looking at different manuals. The point stands though, it's highly unlikely you'd do any damage to a tube by tapping on it. You're certainly not going to cause any sort of thermonuclear meltdown as a result.

cj, until further notice don't use anything other than inexpensive tubes in the output positions. Also, I'm not convinced the tubes are dead, we should try to get them into a known good amp or at least tested to see. If you need some inexpensive tubes for testing the amp let me know, I've got a couple pairs.
