Based on all the chatter I'm picking it up again. I'll probably watch a few episodes today since I'm home from work and locking myself down in the lab.
Yeah, and as usual I lack the funds to even entertain doing something like that. I designed some custom aluminum grado cups a couple years ago but was put off by the fabrication costs. I may revisit the idea some day if I can find a pair of wounded or abused 225s cheap.
First thing I'd do is send the cups off to be refinished. I'm thinking that making them the only black anodized PS-1s might actually make them worth something.
Now that you mention it I think it requires a wallwart. But since he was already using the DAC1 I figured it didn't need to be USB powered. I'm still unclear as to what Vincent's endgame here is.
[edit]D'oh, spoke too fast.
[edit2]I see you found the same info.
Has there ever been a time when TV prices didn't go down over time? In my experience the best that you can hope for is to buy something that is acceptable to you at the end of its run and get it at the cheapest price possible. Or resign yourself to the fact that getting the TV now and enjoying it for 'x' number of months is worth more than some amount of savings you'd get by waiting.
Vincent, are you looking for an upgrade from your current setup? Or are you still looking to sell the DAC1 and get something else? If it's the sell it option I'd see if you can't find someone early next year to build you a y1 dac (amb's latest project). I might have one in time for the NYC meet.
