following up... my impressions are that s2000 is well worth $400. sound good with everything. tested blu ray last night with the optical out and a fight scene greatly alarmed the dog.
  3. at what mile marker are you required to pull over and chug a hazy IPA?
  4. 50/50... wife leaves for a work trip the following day and i'm sure we'll have some stuff to take care of. a non-HC friend mentioned this concert a while back and might be interested too. he saw NeO the last time they were here (the show i had to pass on).
  5. Catoctin isn't half bad if I remember right. Had it a long time ago in San Francisco, seem to recall it was slightly toned down from something like Willett Family Estate 2-3 year (actual Willett distillate, not the old MGP they sourced) but still in the same spectrum. I think Catoctin also does a limited cask strength bottling and I would buy that if I saw it (unlikely in IL though). Knob Creek Cask Strength 2009 is good. One of the best values in rye in the last few years considering anything of a similar age and proof is now $150+ (see Kentucky Owl). Naaman originally recommended it to me, and I took my bottle to Jeff's to compare to an old Willett FE 5 year rye. It's more a bourbon than a rye in some respects, like Rittenhouse in a way. But that's just how Beam does rye.
  6. Beck at Riot Fest next month. And Sum 41 and Incubus for my inner child-of-the-90's
  7. scratch another one off bucket list... Smashing Pumpkins at United Center last night. 31 songs all from first five cds (except for covers and one new single), 3 of the 4 OG crew. hoped for this for at least 10 years, couldn't have been better.

s2000 tempts me greatly. looks perfect for our living room's constraints.
  9. About to see Dick Dale at Reggies in Chicago. Didn't know this fucker was still kicking. Should be dope especially after these PBRs...

  13. I’d pass on Koval, just too expensive for what it is. Not sure on the others as I’ve never had them but High West is generally solid.

  15. CAPS amazing run. serious breathe of fresh air and lots of deserving folks. ovi, trotz, holtby, all the depth guys who were so clutch. congrat Dan!

LeBron is amazing. JR Smith is a dumbass. Refs shouldn't see another finals game. Typical.
  17. as much as i like the vegas story (especially Flower)... gotta root for the caps. just a great run they've got going, lots of hurdles they've overcome. get one for ovi and trotz!
  18. had to dvr winnipeg/vegas game 1 and ended up skipping through some of it, but this is set up to be a great series. first time (perhaps all season) that vegas is facing a team that equals them on speed. biggest question will be whether winnipeg's blue line can keep it going. they had it for the third period which was one of the better periods i've watched all playoffs. wash/tampa game 2 was a laugher. caps are firing on all cylinders and tampa is asleep at the wheel. series isn't over by any means but damn, the depth of experience tampa acquired is meaningless right now.
  19. well game 1 isn't over yet but tampa sure as shit hasn't shown up to start. washington beating them to everything. don't even need Backstrom.
  20. go Jets! completely outclassed nashville. as a hawks fan, seeing nashville not match expectations of their (relatively arrogant) fanbase was pretty satisfying. pretty damn happy with the way the final four turned out. i legitimately like all of the teams remaining and would be happy to see any of them win. if I had to order them, i guess i'd go... 1. Winnipeg or Washington (really can't decide here) > 3. Vegas > 4. Tampa Bay (since they've already won)
  21. happy birthday Shelly!
  22. boston/tampa series turned out to not be that exciting (yes refs seemed pretty off)... boston was exposed in lack of depth especially on forwards. it didn't seem like tampa worked that hard - actually i don't think tampa's shown all that much effort in either of their series so i'm pretty curious how they'll show up for ECF. from what i can tell, vegas basically plays a perfect pressure game. there's never not a guy up on the puck.. it doesn't matter where the other team has possession, what kind of numbers they might have... there's always a vegas player right there. the pressure has been non-stop and it's truly impressive they have sustained this for an entire regular season and then keep at it in playoffs as well. the sharks had some answers for it at times but last night was some shitty puck-luck against them and they couldn't overcome. it's crazy but vegas will be able to take anyone if the calls and pucks go their way. they are creating their own luck. right now i think they'd very well beat nashville, pittsburgh, and washington. winnipeg and tampa seem as though they could respond pretty well but who knows.
  23. no skin in the game this year, first time in 10 years but can't complain. gotta root for sharks and caps, as always. boston/tampa seems like a toss-up, i won't be surprised if boston makes it to ECF despite the toughest path there. and lastly, completely loving the nashville/winnipeg series. nashville is very lucky to be heading out of town with the series split. i am totally on jets bandwagon, how can you not love watching Big Buff drag those bitch preds around...
  24. learn the art of the bottle lip. no glasses nor shirts required.
