    Canjam 2010.

I'm scheduled in an attempt to not miss work that day, its going to be tight. I depart from RDU on June 4th at 4 pm and will arrive at 7:56 pm in Chicago. I will then depart Chicago on June 6th at 7:45 pm and arrive back at RDU at 10:45 pm. I still need to reserve a room at Hyatt O'Hare.
  2. Happy Birthday!!!11801
  3. Turkey burgers (properly seasoned), on the other hand, are delicious. Even so, real bacon is still better.
  4. Wow, sorry to hear that. I have had a few phones like that and the Lambdas are that way too sometimes during the spring and summer months. It hasn't happened to me recently now that my apartment is staying on the cooler side.
  5. I got a letter from my county's human resources reading that I am no longer on a temporary contract (required when I was rehired) and had been formally placed back on a probationary contract. Such a relief, now I am no longer able to be removed from my contract with a 30 days notice, the year will count towards receiving my tenure, and my contract will not automatically expire at the end of the year. It was a scary moment opening the letter as I thought the letter might actually be the thirty days notice and its rarely good news to get one IME. In other news, Fedex attempted delivery of the O2 mk1. I will perform the hours drive to get it to my home tomorrow.
  6. The ESP950 got pretty involving once I started hooking it up to Stax amplifiers, they do indeed rock out. KGSS is going to really make you happy I bet.
  7. I dunno. Faster could mean more reflections, though if your reciever and cable are rated at the same impedance, Ohms law should cancel that out perfectly and make reflections a non-issue. Since that's not an issue, then yeah 50 Ohm seems like it would be better as long as nothing comes about from the frequencies and possible interference. I'm completely an amateur with digital electronics, so this should be read in that light.
  8. Happy Birthday!
  9. Happy Birthday!
  10. Thats really generous of you, I'm glad to know for sure that he is going to make it. Nothing like bromance around the holidays. I want to stay in that room too though, so maybe we should skimp on the mistletoe.
  11. Congratulations on having your new youngest grandchild!
  12. That is a nice option. Are those fuse mounts being used there you think?
  13. If it helps, I use last.fm, same user name. Also, I mostly use CD or digital from computer for my music.
  14. No, no, I did mean the meet; I would much rather have a meet at your place.
  15. No Stax?
  16. Oh yah, I also do this via ASIO4ALL. Fun experiment for me, one DAC to headphones, the other to speakers.
  17. You can use a USB hub (I recommend one that can be powered from a DC adapter) to connect both and setup ASIO to output the channels to both DACs as your sound card simultaneously. Monoprice is a good place to pick up a cheap hub and some digital cables.

    Fluke 179?

    lets test it...
  19. I'm sworn myself off of beresford, though I haven't heard your DAC. I've seen some pretty sketchy shilling practices and rebranding of other designs by that company, notably involving their TC series DACs. They have had some incredibly bad designs that don't isolate the digital inputs using pulse transformers, cap decoupling the optical inputs, share a common ground between the analog and digital sections, and just odd layout with similarities with commonly known circuits. Also, shills have shown up on a different headphone forum (head-fi) and used multiple screen names to shill their DACs. Sketchy all around.
  20. I saw that in yesterdays thread. Its cheaper then the $799 mac mini I would want, but not much after configuring it to my wants 1mb cache 1.53 ghz, 4gb ram, ati HD graphics, blu-ray, add in my own 1Tb drive, Wireless N, Win7 Home (around $680). I'm still tempted to go this route if the reviews are as good as that one.
  21. Happy Birthday Dinny!

    slow forum

In my mind, I just had a little voice go 'schwing!'. Dr. Wood approved.
  23. My mistake. I think your answer is 'depends' I guess is what I am saying. You didn't give us any information and your asking us to stereotype these connectors to prove which is best. I'm not sure anyone without your equipment is really going to be able to help you in this case. Different transports, receivers and sources. I think you did the right thing testing yourself, would have been better without the thread about it.
  24. How does one justify stereotyping the sound of different connectors? I see listing strengths such as BNC keeps impedance in spec, etc. But saying that coaxial RCA when speaking to the effects of jitter universally sounds "softer" then AES sounds to me like total horse shit.
