    Deals

Southwest Airlines - 4th Quarter Sale It's a $25 to $100 flights 72 hour sale. Anyone wanna fly to the SoFla meet for as little as $25 Hmm? With this deal, I could have gone round trip nonstop for $75.
  2. Do they make laser lighters that work well? Might be nice when you didn't want Butane miffing up the taste and don't like the uneven burn plus having to discard wooden matches.
  3. Yeah huffing is bad.
  4. Whew, that is no good. On the bright side, as long as no one was hurt, it might be a good thing your airbag didn't deploy as I've heard that adds up a lot of cost towards your vehicle being declared totaled. Def. get that checked out while its up for repair.
  5. From my studies, the ear canal can change with a weight gain or loss of as little as twenty to twenty-five pounds. From my experience, I agree with that being a possible scenario when I was dropping weight up to 35 pounds and the seal did seem to get worse (another reason I worry greatly about getting another pair with my history of gaining and losing every two years or so, I've lost about thirty pounds just in the last three months). As for it lasting ten years, almost all hearing aid companies I can find put the product life expectancy at 3-5 years. Ultimate Ears have stated that the hard acrylic housing has a life expectancy of ten years. Westone states their acrylic housing to have a life expectancy of 3-5. UE also states that the armatures have a life expectancy of seven years with the shock from just regular use. I wouldn't feel comfortable telling anyone they could expect ten years of use from their customs (actually I wouldn't want to tell them anything blindly like that). I also agree with Edwood.
  6. "The JH 13 Pro's superthin cable didn't make any noise when it rubbed against my clothing, and it wasn't prone to tangling and it is user replaceable. That's not the case with any standard, universal fit in-ear headphone I know of; when those cables break, you either toss the 'phone, or pay for a repair." It at least used to be the case with the Ultimate Ear's super.fi or triple.fi lineup. Though I read recently I believe that they are doing away with the replaceable cables on their models. "I think you can expect to get at least 10 years of use out of the JH 13 Pros." Oh, I wouldn't go so far as to say that with customs.

  9. Thanks HPA. I have talked to Dinan about his thoughts on these now that he has the 404LE. Well, that and maybe snagging the mk1.
  10. I also was the damn remote control when I was a kid, I completely relate. We had one button and two knobs on that B&W POS too. I think only recently did I stop imagining hearing my dad calling my name.
  11. Sounds like you need a thresher instead of a lawnmower. They may wish to squat in it however, guerrilla forces may make your home a base.
  12. After reading this morning about your six Macs, your family cars, and all of your gear, I want more money.
  13. No worries, I know I had to do all of that stuff until middle school myself and am 24.
  14. Happy Birthday!
  15. ESP950 is 600V but some recommend 620V for extra response and that shouldn't be dangerous. Even a Stax pro phone seems like it should still be fine with that and its 580V default.
  16. Craniums can smash tile on the way down from a good hit with a shovel too you know.
  17. I think the HF-2 has greater impact from recent memory. The ESP950 are detail monsters and very clear and airy sounding. They have more detail and separation then the Lambda Signature to me. These phones point out flaws in recording or setup very well in my opinion. Getting one that is balanced between L&R and without the squeal is hit and miss, but luckily you can keep trying to get it right for the price of shipping and handling from the Koss factory as many times if and as necessary with their no questions asked unlimited warranty.
  18. I did DIY. Total is about $15 in materials. You cut the extension cable in half. then you strip the ends of the wires with a wire stripper tool (cheap, easily found). Then you make sure the end conductors are tight together and tin them with solder (cover them in a little solder with a soldering gun, a cheap one should work for this job I'd bet). You have to match up the six wires to the right five pins, you can easily find the stock koss and stax pin outs with very easily to follow pictures on faust's headphone wiki. You solder the right wire/s to the correct pins (the bias pin will have two of the wires soldered for pro bias which is what you would want). Add some stiff 3/4" heat shrink over the finished work (I like to make it stiff so that it is good tension relief and gives you something to use when plugging and unplugging the connector. I put the female koss end with a male stax socket and the male koss end to female socket and it allows you to use pro Stax with the E90 (not that its a great driver unit, but it works) and connect the two together to make an extension to the E90 again. You can get the WPI stax female and male connectors from Allied electronics. (WPI - 86-71-6S - Allied Electronics and WPI - 78-S6S - Allied)
  19. I usually buy extra tile just to make sure that if I ever need more then I thought or any needs replacement in the future that I have some that matches the original batch.
  20. I did the adapter because it was cheaper then finding a good stax cable ($90 compared to $12)
  21. Sorry to hear about the bills. That is always a bummer. I'll be down for Friday night entertainment.
  22. You do what every junkie does eventually. You get her addicted too. Sherwood's a good one to ask.
