I get better TV from the overseas stuff on hulu and Netflix.
  5. The bootloader has been unlocked on all galaxy note 2 devices now, the Verizon one leaked last month I believe. Flash that and your phone is now exactly the same as the developer. Even better, you can relock it and reset the flash clock and use your warranty still. Been using avast on my phone for a while now, it's great on android (not so much on PC).
  6. Carl, I like what you are saying a lot for the present time. A schools emergency plan for the current state of things is to lock doors, turn off lights, and hide children while creating as little panic as possible. Put out color coded cards if possible for first responders in an obvious location. There is no flight or matched fight opportunity really. It does not account for assemblies, fire drills, cafeterias very well if at all. We don't have the ability in financial regards to provide decent onsite security forces like large private businesses or other government facilities. It seems very intrusive and intensive to check everyone like they do at airports before they enter the campus area. Note that this in airports has not been able to thwart a single possible attack yet in the last decade and is public knowledge on how to defeat these measures. These schools were not built with these things in mind and still aren't for the most part. We have a lot more security procedure, but little had changed with regards to a threat detected response. In every simulation, double digit death numbers seem expected. Guns exist and are ultimately simple machines. So best we can do is make it slightly more difficult for those who don't follow the law to receive, think I read that 40% of all guns are sold without background check, many of these shooters are just boys. I'm usually disheartened by media perpetuating dangerous cultural views. They project the macho male action hero tough unfeeling model in almost every show, movie, song, and game. Maybe there is a reason the overwhelming majority of these attackers are male. It seems like the majority of popular media involves destroying or killing enemies in some fashion (cause its justice/revenge!) and acceptable that it's a common wish of all. To an outside culture, much less to the mentally ill, it could seem like we condone it or even admire it. The way the news covers it seems focused on starting a panic and creating a cult following. While it's very unlikely to happen to a student, all schools perceived safety goes down which has an effect on many student's educations. So how about some media regulations? Our negative culture is a slippery slope that won't be fixed any time soon and memories are short. Maybe a little more education on gun safety by owners sounds good too. Don't see much anyone or anything can do though personally.
  7. I an not against gun ownership, that was only one scenario. I do not know the statistics for people shot on accident or in altercations by their own weapons. I find it disturbing hearing locally the opinions of who deserve to be shot and for what by gun owners. It's also amazing how little consequence there is for breaking existing gun laws, even repeatedly. I know the schools around here do have armed officers in the building. I will make no comment on how many teachers possibly are carrying concealed weapons in places like their vehicles. I feel safer because of that. I do not ever wish to have live weapons being stored in classrooms though.
  8. Dude, sometimes your concept of sequencing is just masterful. Think its on purpose?
  9. Gun control is important, but is ultimately a red herring to me as well. School shootings happen because the person is mentally ill, if not guns, it would be cars or improvised explosives, etc. Right now, I am scared by our culture. If ask any of my classes about Rhianna, 80% would say that she deserved it. My brother had a home invasion Tuesday night. He has a broken nose and black eyes, some bruising, but not too much stolen. I'm thankful the three guys who did it did not have guns. or a knife. or decide to curb him. I don't like thinking about how horrible it could have been. I would like to focus on fixing people that would like to harm others for pleasure. I have no idea where to start, I teach technology and am total geek. And if one of you would like to say a gun would have stopped that, I do doubt it. After they knocked him out in the hallway, he probably would not be here if he had a gun on him. Two blocks away that same week, people were executed in their home over drugs with a single shot through their heads. His friends were robbed after being shown a gun by a theif that same month. People don't know the circumstances of when they may have to use that gun even with the best of intentions. It can be fun as a hobby, but in reality I don't like the idea of individuals being judge and jury.

If anyone is one using T-Mobile, this might be interesting. Entertainment Weekly's Oct 5th issue will be containing a special kind of ad that actually uses a fully functioning stripped down smartphone running android inside of its pages to access the ads and live twitter feed. It uses a T-Mobile SIM card that seems to have very little restriction on it (they have already demonstrated it making calls and accessing 3G data). Only 1000 issues will be released, but it seems like it might be a deal if you can grab one if just for the SIM card. https://mashable.com...rtphone-inside/
  18. Happy Birthday Wayne! :prettyprincess:
  19. Tried some new stuff out with my S3 and installed imoseyon's leankernal for vzw touchwiz. So far, its great. Have the clock speed set at 1728mhz high 384mhz low at 1200 volts which seems to keep it snappy and doesn't really hurt battery life. Leankernal seems to be more stable than the stock even so far. Flashed the new modem from the latest update. Flashed an NFC mod to allow NFC to work as long as the screen is on from the lockscreen. I also tried out Cyanogenmod 10 (Jellybean 4.1.1) 4/27 nightly today (you have to have the unlocked bootloader flashed first if your on VZW). Its super smooth and slick, I really do like it. If it supported NFC properly, I'd probably use it as my daily driver. Google Now is awesome. PS. After you are rooted and before flashing anything, its best that you backup the IMEI using android terminal. Samsung put a dummy IMEI in the backup bit place that may be accidentally restored any time you flash something causing you to lose your IMEI settings (your carrier network will no longer properly recognize your device and you will be reported as roaming on the network). Its easily preventable. In the terminal, type su reboot nvbackup The terminal will ask for superuser access when you type su which you need to allow. When your phone reboots, it will have backed up your IMEI properly which hopefully prevents any IMEI troubles.
  20. Wow, a voodoopc case. I had an m series laptop of theirs before they were bought by HP and really loved it. Where'd you locate that?
  21. I received an iPad 2 today from work. Spent about two hours restoring it (slightly used it seems), jailbreaking it, securing it, and playing around with some apps and such. It really is fairly straight forward and smooth to work with, I'm looking forward to trying out some of the iOS games and not having to deal with some of the worse ports of them Android has gotten. I'm honestly not sure what to do with this thing though with my laptop and smartphone around. Maybe I'll see who I can find via facetime.
