  1. Happy Birthday!
  2. I have had a copy of every single os they did since dos 2.0 including ME and Vista. I actually used vista for eyars quite happily but 7 appears to be an improvement performance wise which is nice.
  3. Finally something audio related:
  4. Well mine took more than 3 hours of churning. At least I didn't have to sit there. I actually also upgraded that particular machine to Professional for the credential abilities which didn't take more than 5 min. I then learned that I could have upgraded to ultimate for $40 more or now I can upgrade to ultimate from pro for $129 more..... yay I'm sticking with pro for now. Chiropractor went great and I can pic stuff up again...
  5. Congrats to Ollie! Me: 1. Pinched a nerve in my back this morning putting on my damn jacket. 2. Went to a 3 hour meeting anyway. 3. Went to lunch at Hard Times Chili with friends from said meeting 4. Started installing Windows 7 on one of my machines 5. Helped my shed builder sort out a settling issue that came up with the shed he's building involving re-spacing cedar siding. 6. Windows is still installing.... Chiropractor tomorrow at 6:40am ....
  6. Congrats on the car. Me: The electrical bits & installation for my new shed. 4 GFI outlets, 1 light fixture with switch and a cable line
  7. I pay to have a UPS store box. It's awesome and entirely worth it to me for the headache/worry involved with having stuff sit at the door.
  8. Congrats Jim
  9. Fingers crossed that he's able to fix it cheaply and effectively and Ollie is back to his old self quickly!
  10. Happy Birthday!
  11. cool on all the tablets. I'm currently pretty pissed about the Motorola caused Atrix bug where I can't use anything that uses the microphone... hope they fix it soon. I would like to be able to skype in Toronto in a few weeks.
  12. Second payment on my shed project. Now 1 more when it's all done
  13. Colin that sounds awesome Our trip to europe has been cancelled (I'm still going but for work) because I need the vacation days for our kid's arrival in the fall Small price to pay and all that..
  14. Another run capacitor for my heat pump that is exactly like the one I'm replacing (shape as well as spec). I got one and installed (the specs were right) it for now but it's the wrong shape so I ordered another one that appears to be correct. Probably a waste but better than having the AC service company tell me I've ruined their warranty or some such
  15. As an FYI: http://www.guardian.co.uk/technology/2011/apr/20/iphone-tracking-prompts-privacy-fears probably being done by mistake but still a pretty stupid mistake
  16. Really sorry to hear about the layoff That sucks big time.
  17. Interesting? http://www.wellesleywinepress.com/2008/11/long-awaited-blind-tasting-vinturi-vs.html
  18. Yup just hook up your monitor, keyboard and mouse.... It just has a larger mac sized "power" brick...
  19. Happy Birthday!
  20. A new shifter for my backup bike after I snapped the shift padde off the bike in the last 5 miles of my ride in WV yesterday. Fucking thing was shifting like crap so I though pushing harder may help.... it didn't
  21. Well this is audio and I'd guess more than 50% of things aren't done right commercially. That said nothing that "El Doug" said was wrong or deserving of a "are you sure you understand what you're talking about?"
  22. AC/heat unit and special order door for the backyard office, now all I need to do is buy the window as my contractor is dealing with the rest. Construction starts in under a week and hopefully in 2 weeks I'll be all set.
  23. You can not "control" the phase response of a passive filter (unless the laws of nature have changed since I studied RLC filters 10+ years ago). You can pick which response you want and what order etc but there are a lot of limits that just don't exist in the DSP space. Of course with the DSP you need to correct for the effects of the AD and DA on the phasing but it's pretty easy to do if the measurements are done. I do agree though with your statement that DSP is not easy to do right but it can and has been done by lots of people already (eg. JH, Virtualizer, Nautilus, etc)
  24. Great news shelly.
