Well I have brand new wheels that are entirely carbon and titanium so you can guess what I'd recommend..... To be honest though I'd say the Roubaix will likely be your best investment if you're really going to ride a lot, carbon rules for ride quality. The mixture of bottom bracket stiffness and vertical compliance is pretty much awesome.

Roubaix it is then. It's pretty much the best comfort road bike or #2 depending on model year. I will put a plug in for SRAM components. They are awesome in that the performance is essentially identical throughout the range which is not the case with Shimano. I'm thinking of changing my only non sram bike over to Apex to try it out.(As a note Contador climbed up Zircolan in the Grio with a SRAM Apex rear derailleur and 11-32 casette)

Nice The Roubaix is a sweet bike and a excellent performer for the money, I had originally wanted one. If you're more flexible (litterally) the cheapest "race" bike these days is the Canondale CAAD10 which is incredible according to everyone I've seen do a review or own one.

Nice. I haven't really been watching the ToC this year (distracted by the Giro) but it looks like it was a great race. Take it from me all the toys don't make you much faster If you do get the SRAM though I highly recommend you switch to Yokozuna cables instead of the Gore stuff, it's almost like having Di2 after that and the breaking is incredible. Mentioning bike porn I'm picking these up from my store this afternoon (the tires are getting glued on today): Though I probably can't ride them for a few weeks anyway though as I have a deal with my wife as to what I can weigh when I ride them and I've been bad over the last couple months.

Hope everything works it smoothly with Andrew Nate. I went in my first long outdoor ride in weeks. Felt awesome to be out on the bike for 4+ hours but now my body is basically letting mine know it is not to happy with me.

Nope. I'd take a d3x over it any day of the week. Though I will be interested to see how their DxOMark ends up. Pentax 645D is the win in the same price range.

Talked to a loan guy and got pre-approved for a second place in the "country" to spend weekends with the family at. Off to look at places this weekend

New carbon fiber handlebars to replace the set that I currently have on the "good" bike that appear to have failed around where they clamp to the stem.... WTF. Even if it costs me $200 it's cheaper than the copay if my handlebars break at high speed. Made me think of all the close calls I've had "at speed".....

Congrats Brian Raffy, those all sound like fun options. Weird you can't do it by mail anymore. You can't even mail it to the consulate? If you haven't already I'd call the consulates that do make passports and make 100% certain before buying plane tickets.
