Wireless speakers to use with a Mac

Featured Replies

Has anyone done this successfully? Bluetooth or wifi? This is not for an audiophile.

No matter what kind of computer hardware you have, the Aperion Home Audio Link is easy to set up and enjoy. Just plug it in to an open USB port on your computer, open up your favorite music player, and you’re ready to rock n’ roll. If you’re using a Mac, simply open up your System Preferences, find the Sound Control Panel and select “USB Headset” as your Sound Output.

I had a home theater setup with their speakers and they sound good. Great customer support, too.

I am going to piggyback off this thread and ask if anyone knows of decent speakers that are AirPlay compatible. Would be cool to have them in the kitchen and what not and send random music from the idevice while doing stuff.

I think I'd get an Airport Express and a Tivoli, or just a small powered speaker if you don't need the radio.

I am doing similarly but with an squeezebox classic.

I have recommended the Airport Express or Squeezebox options, but was curious if there are any speakers to recommend. Thanks for the Aperion link, Stretch.

Thanks Jim, I suggested Audioengine 5s but do the 5+ still need a wireless adapter (W1 or coming soon W3) if you are not using an AE?

Yep, same as 5.

Also looks like they're aiming for an eventual Airplay model.

When will you have products that include Apple's Airplay?

We're working on integrated Airplay solutions but these take time. Meanwhile, consider a great alternative, which is an Airport Express and your iPhone with A5+ or A2 powered speakers.

As Ric said it is pretty much the same as the five. So you could use the wireless adapter or the 3.5 audio out from the airport express directly to the 3.5 input on the A5+. I would probably do the latter.
