October 8, 201411 yr Author That one was all on Posey. No way can he be looking for advice or consultation on that. It's an instinct play and he's probably safe 90% of the time in cases like that, so I think he did the right thing. Must have been a perfect bounce that allowed a quick and accurate throw.
October 8, 201411 yr I'm actually going to miss the Smoltz-Vasgersian announcing team. What a breath of fresh air they are. Smoltz is humble and easily relateable. Vasgersian calls a clean game and gets excited at the right times. They are so much nicer to listen to than the general awfulness of Joe Buck and Tim McDoofus. I thought Smoltz as the color-man was a nice change of pace from the gasbag that is our local color-man, Mike Krukow. Kruk is great for getting people in to the game, but his shtick wears thin after 15 years of watching Giants games.
October 9, 201411 yr Author Joe Buck and McCarver are just way too full of themselves. Jack Buck was so good... but I kind of wish he wasn't because his legendary status is what made Joe's career possible... and speaking of annoying twerps, don't even get me started on Bob Costas! Agree about Smoltz. He's good and it doesn't have to be about him all of the time. Cal Ripkin does pretty well too.
October 10, 201411 yr My cousin has been re-added to the Oriole's roster. http://www.baltimoresun.com/sports/orioles/blog/bal-orioles-add-lefthander-brian-matusz-to-alcs-roster-replacing-righthander-ubaldo-jimenez-20141010,0,2529743.story

This will make me feel better if the Orioles win the series. My KC blood has been stirred up a bit, so I've been pulling for them... but I'll be happy no matter what so long as the Cardinals don't win the World Series! Anyone but them!!! Go Giants... October 10, 201411 yr I generally like the underdog, and I definitely like small ball, but I am still bitter over 1985
October 11, 201411 yr Wish I could watch the Giants v Cards series. At least I'll get to watch the WS. Edited October 11, 201411 yr by shellylh
October 12, 201411 yr Hoping for a Giants vs Royals WS. Love the KC small ball, hustle, get 'er done style, and the fact that it's been a while for them. Giants, just cuz ... Grandpap's favorite team when they played at Polo Grounds way back in the day, and now solidarity with all my NorCal homies.
October 12, 201411 yr Author I'm with you Gene and want to see KC vs. Giants, but now have a soft spot for the Orioles as well (or at least for the success of Brian Matusz and his very cool HC connection).
October 12, 201411 yr One down for the Giants, three to go. Can we change Pablo Sandoval's name to Senor Octobre? That was a balk, but thankfully the game wasn't close enough that it really mattered all that much. I kind of enjoyed the alternative broadcast, although I felt myself switch over the the regular broadcast early in the game. The alternative broadcast struggled early with focusing on the game action during high leverage situations, but they got quite a bit better as the game went on.
October 13, 201411 yr I'm trying to get some tickets for Wednesday or Thursday night, but damn are people ever asking a lot. For the price of 4 good seats I could practically go out and get a 70" TV.
October 14, 201411 yr Phew. Did not want to lose that one. First game I've ever seen won by bunt-off.
October 14, 201411 yr Fuck yeah! Bunts, wild pitches, sacrifices, these Giants win in strange and wonderful ways. I'll take it.
October 16, 201411 yr Big one tonight, buddy. Classic October. Hope you are there. I'm here. Taking a toll but we're going to win!
