March 5, 201214 yr If there are any Tenhi fans, they just released Saivo. As to whether it will be good - it's Tenhi, of course it will be good! EDIT: Yep, it's awesome. All fans should jump on it! Thanks for this, love Tenhi.
March 6, 201214 yr Another song from Anathema's upcoming album Weather Systems is streaming: http://www.popmatters.com/pm/post/155486-check-out-anathemas-newest-single-untouchables-part-1/ Not as good as "The Beginning and the End", it is still good. It's going to be a great album.
March 10, 201214 yr Looking forward to this... Jonny Greenwood, Radiohead’s Runaway Guitarist http://nyti.ms/zAYXRU
March 14, 201214 yr This better be good, or I'll be pissed: http://www.burningshed.com/store/stevenwilson/product/65/3699/ Heritage was an abomination, so I hope this is a redemption of sorts for Mikael. We'll see.
March 14, 201214 yr This better be good, or I'll be pissed: http://www.burningsh...roduct/65/3699/ Heritage was an abomination, so I hope this is a redemption of sorts for Mikael. We'll see. Wasn't it supposed to be Steven Wilson, Mikael Akerfelt and Dream Theater? I see no mention of the Dream Theater so I remain hopeful
March 14, 201214 yr Yeah, Mike Portnoy was 86ed when the music apparently took a turn to not need drums in it according to an interview here: http://legacy.roadru...wsitemID=148615 That said, according to Wikipedia, 20% of it will have drums, and Gavin Harrison will perform those duties. I have to say, this is good news to me, and Portonoy is a joke and has been for a while (though he was fantastic during early DT albums). Gavin, on the other hand, was and is pure gold. March 14, 201214 yr Gavin Harrison is the man, the guy they have touring for Grace For Drowning is amazing as well.
March 20, 201214 yr Something fun to look forward to next month... Here's What The Flaming Lips Are Gifting You For Record Store Day http://ow.ly/1IR0ov

April 24, 201214 yr Steven Wilson/Mikael Akerfeldt's collaboration project Storm Corrosion has leaked. It's different from Grace For Drowning and Heritage. It's more of an ambient album with progressive rock elements. I've listened to it twice and I think it's damn good (though I think I slightly favor Grace For Drowning). I can make certain comparisons to Scott Walker's Tilt and The Drift, though it's not as dark as either of those. Steven Wilson has said there was essentially no mastering stage. What you hear in the mix is the final album. Also there is NO compression at all. And it shows, even on the crappy transcoded MP3 it has classical music type dynamics. Hoping they do a tour and stop in Bahston
April 25, 201214 yr Oh good. Anything better than Heritage will be a step in the right direction for Mr. A as far as I'm concerned. I'll have a listen tonight when it's quiet.
May 10, 201214 yr Oh good. Anything better than Heritage will be a step in the right direction for Mr. A as far as I'm concerned. I'll have a listen tonight when it's quiet. Have you had a chance to hear it? I'm glad to finally be able to listen to a non-transcoded MP3s. I've grown to appreciate it even more now, there is a lot of subtlety to the album. And the vinyl sounds great.
May 11, 201214 yr Yeah, I did not have a chance to give it a good listen yet. I will try tonight and report back.
May 11, 201214 yr Alright, I just gave Storm Corrosion a full run though. I would not put it on the same level as Grace For Drowning (Deform... and Postcard alone easily put that album over this), but it is a very good album and a vast improvement over Heritage. It is a great blend of ambient, progressive rock, and folk that really sound great late at night. It's going to need at least a few more listens to fully click with me though. Oh, and the sound quality is glorious. It's going to sound goooooood on floorstanding speakers.
May 11, 201214 yr Agreed I still like Grace more. Seeing that entire album played live was something else. Steven Wilson also released a live CD of Grace For Drowning taken from various shows, it's OOP now, but up at the usual joints. From Storm Corrosion album, my favorite tracks are Storm Corrosion and Ljudet Innan.
May 13, 201214 yr From Storm Corrosion album, my favorite tracks are Storm Corrosion and Ljudet Innan. Mine too. Both great tracks. This album is really growing on me. I really like it a lot. Edited May 13, 201214 yr by roadtonowhere08
May 15, 201214 yr As I was saying in the "Paint It Black" thread, I VERY much recommend the album "Skylight" from Atoma. Easy to listen to atmospheric metal. It was love at first listen to me, and that is saying a LOT.
May 22, 201214 yr Oh, and the sound quality is glorious. It's going to sound goooooood on floorstanding speakers. It does! Sounds glorious on the Jamo R907s! Mine too. Both great tracks. This album is really growing on me. I really like it a lot. x3
June 6, 201214 yr Damn, that sounds nice. BTW, if anyone is looking for the 4-cut Record Store Day version looks like Acoustic Sounds has it for $14. http://store.acousticsounds.com/d/82109/Bill_Evans-Live_At_Art_D_Lugoffs_Top_of_the_Gate-10_inch_Vinyl_Record Edited June 6, 201214 yr by blessingx

BTW, if anyone is looking for the 4-cut Record Store Day version looks like Acoustic Sounds has it for $14. http://store.acousti...ch_Vinyl_Record Sold out a while ago. I think I'll be getting the 45 rpm vinyl set, not sure how long it will stay in stock as it is a new Bill Evans release and not a reissue.
June 7, 201214 yr What do people think of the new Neil Young & Crazy Horse release? Seems to be getting mixed reviews, I am on the side of thinking it's a big stinker. But I haven't really liked any NY albums since Sleeps With Angels (not counting the Archives set which was awesome)
