Hi all, I’ve lurked here for a while but am active in the other regular forum. Apologies for the cold post here, but after a trade and drunken bidding on Yahoo Auctions I find myself with both an SRM-T1S and a 006t (both have pro and normal bias outputs). I would like to get the CCS mod done to one of them, likely the 006 which I would then keep. There’s likely no way in hell I would trust myself to do the mod, though I have JimL’s article. So my post is to find someone who could upgrade my 006t with the CCS mod and whatever other upgrades and updates (and voltage change) you feel would be worthwhile. I’m using it to drive (primarily) an L300LE and a NB La…

For those of you who've held on to your GS1000s (there are a couple left, right?), what amp are you using?

Last I heard he was in the early testing phase. Did things get worked out and are these now available in the GS-X?

and so the amp parade begins A bit of a disclaimer I am NOT an audiophile and will never claim to have "golden ears". I am just getting into this world of headphones. Right now I have the Senn HD-650 and AKG K-701. I have had one amp for a few years now a Headroom Coda Amp LE so that is my frame of reference. The few things I don't like 8-) about the P1 is that the top and bottom seem to have been coated with some oil and grease magnet ( the PSP has nothing on the P1 as far as revealing any and all contact with the top and bottom) the side however have a narrowly spaced ribbing that I rather like. Its not really something I didn't like but something that may b…

Can you hear the piano on Bob Dylan's Mondern Times, "Spirit on the Water" and if you can, where is it? my mid range set up: Computer>optical Constantine>Woo3, GS1 Listening with my 880s tonight: (stock foobar 9.5, 32 bit, kernel streaming, album@320kpps mp3~EAC With the Woo3 the piano is subdued, on the right and mixed into the music With the GS1, I can hear the piano as a separate instrument, but barely..... lots of air and space to the cut, but I'm having difficulty picking out the piano with the tube amp and can only do it slightly better with the SS. What are you guys hearing? USG

http://www.head-case.org/forums/headphone-amplification/7028-mysteriously-musical-amplifier-moth-300b-problem.html Well, I'm hearing the same symptoms on my Stax T1S now. This amp has no output transformers so... what's going on here <.< And no, its not just the new Shuguang CV181-Z that's doing this, the tube I was using before this was doing it too, albeit less audibly (probably because its only half the size).

When my Mjolnir SRM-006t is connected to my AGD D27, the left channel is much quieter than the right, and there's a beeping/static noise in that ear which responds to volume control. This happens to both my 950X and SR-007. The D27 is connected to my PC via USB, and does not exhibit this behavior when my computer speakers are connected via RCA. I've tried swapping the balanced XLR from left to right on the e-stat amp and and had the same issue, i.e. the issue didn't follow the balanced connection. I've also measured the voltage when the amp is on in the places indicated with identical results on both channels. Even with the D27 volume control bypassed the issue remains. …

The SRM-1 MK2 pp (rev. C, spritzer modded to balanced input) was having bad resistors when I just got it. The bad resistors are those 2.2Mohm (R303 & R304) resistors. After fixing that, I like this SMR-1's sound even better than my new SRM-323S for some music. The bass is tight and impactful and the soundstage is more open. Recently, I changed the two diodes (D301 & D302) in the bias circuit with 1n4007. I also replace other two diodes (D101 & D201) in the L&R channels. I found the SQ actually went down (to my ear). The bass impact was weaker and the soundstage shrank. And the DC output from PSU seems to drop a few volts. Then I put the old …

Just an update. Now I've had the Woo WA6SE long enough to form an opinion or two. Remember the restaurant scene in Pulp Fiction where Vincent asks about the shake? "It's a rectifier tube? It's not in the signal path? [buddy nods] and it's $150?" [buddy says yeah] "And you don't put bourbon in it or nothin?" A few minutes later, Vincent takes a sip... "Damn! I don't know if it's worth $150." "But that's a pretty fucking good rectifier tube!" There you have it. For me, the Sophia Princess 274B turned out to be more than pretty freakin good, it's more in freakin must-have territory. I'm not the first to say this, but if you have a Woo 6SE, you p…

I bought a Pioneer A-27 Integrated Amp a few months ago and sent it to Hamad at Amplifier Surgeries to have it rebuilt. I and others here have had Hamad do wonderful work on Pioneer M-22 amps. Since I will be using this amp sometimes with headphones (but mainly driving my Sound Lab speakers) I asked Hamad to check the headphone circuit to make sure it is optimized as much as possible. He indicated he would and asked what headphones I was using so he could "check to see if the resistor network can be matched for my headphones". The hard part is I don't know which headphone to have this amp optimized for. The dynamic headphones I use are the LCD-2, HE6 and HD800. I l…

OK folks, I just bought a dozen spares, but this guy has plenty: http://cgi.ebay.com/88x-Tube-6FQ7-6CG7-RAYTHEON-JAPAN-NIB-5-8-Each-Tube_W0QQitemZ5873841025QQcategoryZ50598QQssPageNameZWD1VQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem I believe the actual manufacturer of these tubes is Toshiba. In my 007t, these outperform anything else I've tried. At a whopping $5.80 per tube, knock yourselves out. There are actually cheaper ones on eBay, but this guy has enough to make quads, and is a reputable seller (I've bought from him several times in the past, but have no other affiliation with him or this auction). If you know how to bias the amp, you should try these. If you don't, bias instruct…

Currently just a pic on the home page, but looks like Craig's getting into the 'stat amp market: http://www.eddiecurrent.com/ Edit: OK, so google points to discussion about it on the other site including (as would be expected) some of the usual suspects here, so to the stool in the corner with a pointy hat for me and a note to self to check the other place before posting startling revelations that everyone already knows about.

After talking with somebody fairly extensively about the topology and circuitry of the amp, seems it's like a PPAv2 (or any other PPL amp), but slightly tweaked. What's the consensus around here for one? Is it worth the asking price over a PPAv2? What are the sonic differences between the two? I've heard a Lisa, but not the PPAv2...just wondering if it's worth supporting the DIY community or supporting somebody who doesn't really hold back his designs to the DIY community. http://www.esnips.com/doc/837045c1-25a0-4004-b933-7b9f9c842bc0/LISA-III-New-Front-Panel-019 I like how slender the new Lisa is, as it's not TOO bothersome to carry around. Carrying around that …
