Does anyone have a copy of "Rock Me Amadeus", the "international" version with the English-speaking voice-over that gives a synopsis of his life? I know the lyrics (well, I found the lyrics), but I really need to hear it...I have the German-language version already. I vaguely remember it having more impact.

I'm listening to a 24/96 needle drop of Black Sabbath's Paranoid. Exceptional drop from the first pressing of the USA vinyl. Comparing it to my retail CD (which is also an early pressing really good quality) and the difference is great. Hearing the impact from the drums, and weight to the electric guitar As if 300-500 mb FLAC rips weren't big enough

Oh Lordi. "In Finland, we have no Eiffel Tower, few real famous artists, it is freezing cold and we suffer from low self-esteem," said Mr. Putaansuu, who, as Lordi, has horns protruding from his forehead and sports long black fingernails.

German Oak - German Oak Amazing, phantasmal krautrock. An improptu recording in an abandoned war bunker. A bit sloppy, but grow some nuts and put up with it. If you like Can, Faust, International Harvester, Popol Vuh and all those greats, most definitely check it out. Makes you feel as if you're on the brink of death; life-affirming. moderator edit: I fixed the link for the album art, and the download should work now

I have never listened to Stravinsky but want to. Some of my favorite composers are 20th century composers and Stravinsky is almost always spoken of with high regard. The problem is that I don't know where to start. What pieces do you like a lot or what do you think I should start with?

I think if I take some antacid beforehand, I can stomach some of genesis' earlier works. Which ones would you recommend? I'm trying to get over my anti-Phil Collins/Genesis attitude.

Dear Head-Case, I have decided to begin exponentially increasing the size of my classical music collection. I have recently gained access to a collection of more than 25,000 classical CDs, tapes, and LPs. About 13,037 classical CDs as of this summer. I can take 3 recordings per day. Classical music has always been my first love when it came to music. One of my personal difficulties with acquiring classical CDs is that there are so many performances of every piece. Each performance is special and different; it is sometimes a huge headache to decide on which one to get. I would like to ask a huge favor of the Head-Case classical community. It is time for Head-Case cl…

Yesssssssssssssssssssssssssss....do I like the East Coast..... '' It now looks as though we'll be undertaking a serious (3 week or so) N. American stint in June/July after Nearfest. Things still await absolute and final confirmation (and relevant work visas, naturally), but it looks as though we'll be paying visits to the following places at least: NYC, Washington, Cleveland, Chicago, Buffalo, Annapolis, Toronto, Ottawa, Quebec City and Montreal. I expect (I hope, for the sake of the budget!) that more will appear in due course. Sorry that I can't give fuller information at this point, but I'd better wait until everything is signed, sealed, delivered.... And sorry, but…

Any of you guys who have an interest in acoustic or early electrical recordings like I do, might find the downloads that Amoeba have made available interesting. If you don't know what I mean about acoustic recordings, they are from the era of recording when acoustic horns were used before the invention and/or the general use of microphones or electric amplifiers. The musicians had to gather around a horn and play loudly so the vibrations at the small end of the horn could "cut" the record master or wax cylinder. This made the recordings of large ensembles (such as an orchestra) difficult and in many instances, instruments were replaced by ones which were capable of pro…

Rules: 1. The video must be music related, meaning it can be a live performance, a music video, an interview with an artist, etc. 2. You must describe the contents of the video, you can't just post a youtube link with no accompanying description. Just something as simple as "<artist> plays <song> live" will suffice, but feel free to describe more if you would like. So those are the rules. Linky: [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QfjqZC5iTU8]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QfjqZC5iTU8[/ame] RZA from Wu-Tang describes covering/sampling "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" in a brief five minute interview. On Thursday, “sometime between 1:23 and 1:38 p.m. Pacific time,” Mr. Lynch, the celebrated “Twin Peaks” creator and director of films like “Mulholland Drive,” will reintroduce davidlynch.com as a digital music store and “sensory experience.” There will be sound experiments from the past (some unreleased from his film and television projects) and new music. http://tinyurl.com/4j48hkc

watch this: http://www.pbs.org/kcet/wiredscience/story/67-audio_files.html I saw this and, as an audiophile, it just made me sick. I wanted to grab that digital nazi by the neck and strangle him through my computer screen right then and there. The whole world is NOT moving to mp3 crap. I think cds are probably here to stay. I also hope LPs don't get phased out anytime soon. Audiophiles unite! All hail lossless audio and analog recordings!
