  1. Last night I dreamed I attended a travel team event and we all visited a specialist whisky store, where I became overly refreshed. Next morning, I found that you fuckers had taken me to a tattooist, who photo-realistically reproduced the facade of the store on the palm of my left hand. Everybody seemed to agree that this would be a brilliant memento. Then we went to get poutine.

  8. I got my ass handed to me. I did like the B Pillar location though Edit: Turned out I got 3rd out of 6. The guy I was talking to destroyed everyone so I was more competitive than I thought in the rest.

  9. Lunch - tandoori chicken cooked in yogurt. My grandma's recipe. Came out fantastic. Dinner - sous vide brisket cooked at 145F for 24 hours. Lost a little too much volume I think. Very tender but not as juicy as I had hoped. I got the spice mixture just right this time so going to tweak the Cook times for next time. Julie typically doesn't like brisket but she loved this one. We had with wheat mountain bread and cherry/jalapeno bbq sauce.

  14. Come on now Chris, I expected you take out a few skateboarders at least. You even gave the old bike cart guy too much room.

  15. My camera mount and vinyl magnets for numbers arrived for tomorrow. Not sure if I will mount inside or outside. I think the outside view is pretty cool but I'm not sure which is better for autocross. Edit: After reading a bit I changed to the B column but forgot to switch to wide screen. Should work well.

  17. So there was a bar doing a promotion with Dogfish Head for Record Store Day; they're doing a pre-party, and another place pretty close to me is doing a big party all day tomorrow. The place tonight was doing a "bring your own vinyl" thing. Well, one dude brought stuff, and he brought like, 2-3 albums. I brought maybe 30-40 that I thought may have a song or two, or be interesting to someone. I started pulling out stuff like Dangermouse - The Gray Album and Linkin Park & Jay-Z - Collision Course and the bartenders went a little nuts. I brought out the 20th anniversary of Fugees - The Score and they dug it hard. I pulled out Rocky Horror and I had two people come up and ask me if I'd sell it, then many a fist-bump over some Ghostbusters them song Dub remix. Turns out all the bartenders had seen Flaming Lips live, so they lost it over the autographed "With A Little Help From My Fwends" album. I walked out of there having DJed for 4 hours (1 was just for staff and their friends while they cleaned the place) and having quite a few conversations and got a couple business cards. I ALMOST didn't go out, but pretty glad I did. That was a fun night; it's so rare that I get to share music with others. I've been invited back with control of their house music system. How bad is it that I want to bring in some vintage speakers that I have access to for free and revamping the soundsystem to sound good while the bar is full? **BRENT**

  19. Current world pi memory record 70,300 digits http://www.pi-world-ranking-list.com/index.php?page=lists&category=pi took more than 17 hours to recite it. I actually saw a guy back in 1976 who only had only 10,000 digits, but had it in random access - given any three or four digits at random from the number he could continue from that point immediately. Same event (at CERN) that Wim Klein extracted the 73rd root of a 500 digit number in a little under 3 minutes. Klein's party trick was going out for a beer, and walking though the car park would memorize all the number plates and make/colour of each car. People in the bar would test him - he never got it wrong. He was employed by CERN to debug computer code - he was capable of doing a mental dry run to find tricky errors. Good heaven - I found a photo of that event on the web. I'm five rows from the front, 3rd from the right, checked shirt. Klein is standing, and the guy sat next to the projector is the pi man - totally forget his name. http://www.symmetrymagazine.org/article/december-2012/%E2%80%98human-calculator%E2%80%99-wim-klein-advanced-physics-inspired-others

  20. ^^^ Me too. I stole it (as I do several things from this thread) to post to FB. An old friend who is pretty geeky was one of the first to like it. He and I memorized post-decimal digits of Pi when we were in 6th grade. I got to 35, he got to 50! We always chuckled when that math teacher used one of her favorite expressions - "It's as easy as Pie" [sic]
