Got my Jamis back yesterday after having my LBS swap out the stock seat & brifters with a Brooks B17, some Shimano bar-end friction/index shifters, & shiny new Origin8 Classique Sport brake levers & hoods. Also put back a set of Wellgo combo pedals I had prior to the racing-style clipless pedals I've used for the past several seasons.
Taking the steel-framed Jamis out today felt great, and all the oldschool-like parts played well together:
Longanusa sausage (no Steve I'm not making this up) lumpia, green onion salad, Calamansi vinaigrette. Delicious.
Congee with five spice duck confit, pork cracklings, bock choy, soy cured egg yolk, beet soaked mustard seeds
Best congee I have had by a good margin.
It's like a whole album of "how to disappear completely", but with even more melancholy, and more refined sound. If the individual songs were buried on the earlier albums they would probably be seen as "refreshing" gems, but I get the apprehension when it's a whole album of the stuff....
