The only chile pepper I know by name is a large cayenne pepper in the first photo, and I used two of each of the other three in the second photo. Those three are not known to me, but were bought at a farm stand.

My son designs and project manages some of the largest and most sophisticated display systems around. He is my go-to IT guru. That's a wrap on 2022's event. Summary - it was a beautiful, but very hot/humid day in VT. Temps at the start were in the high 50s (compared with low 40s last year) and climbed to well over 80 w/ feels-like temps approaching 90 by noon. Still, a ton of fun was had by the team - 8 of us - and the 5 that did the century all survived and had some measure of fun along with the suffering. Thanks in no small part to this bunch, the team raised over $28k and the event raised just shy of $1M. I really can't say thanks enough for the incredible generosity of this place.

Don't romanticize that 5D Classic too much. 😜I bought one recently and headed out this morning for the second time to find the OVF looked like I was looking through a periscope. I guess there are disadvantages to having a 12lb mirror slapping around in there as the focusing screen was trying to escape. Don't take the advantages of mirrorless for granted folks! And as you mentioned the M240, you know when I was most satisfied with its default colors? The last test shots in a parking lot as I was showing it was working properly to its new buyer. I took some of my favorite early pandemic shots with it, all monochrome, but was preoccupied with digital medium format at the time. 🤦‍♂️ That sale led to the SL though, whose default colors I loved immediately. It has a look, that was unfortunately eliminated in the SL2 (the SL2-S is rumored to be in between, but I have my doubts). I'm sure it could be integrated into other systems more easily and better edited from a more neutral starting point, but it does seem that something special was eliminated. I certainly can understand if you also struggle with it. A lot of complaints online. Still there are options (I'm looking into Cobalt) and besides the IBIS and video functionality you mentioned, the Monochrome High Contrast profile and highlight weighted metering are pluses of the recent Leicas including the SL2. EDIT: Anyway fixed the 5DC before a little art & wine fest this weekend...

I really like the clamp on the DeWalt palm router. Super easy depth adjustments and bit changes. It also feels really good in the hand. I still use the corded version, that now lives in Al's shop. That Tibetan guy makes his own "natural" finish. And you don't want to know what's in it!

I really like the Bosch Cowboy or whatever the fuck corded router I use now, just want to lose the cord. Maybe I will look at those as well. My tool shop has 15% off all Milwaukee Friday so that might make a nice choice if I get one with yet another battery.

In my last few projects I've been using this new featherboard system I purchased sometime back. This think is really good. Very well designed, in that it easily allows stock to move forward, but is almost impossible to move backward. This will definitely negate any kind of kickback. Also, I've had the plastic fingers of standard style featherboards break off and try to imbed themselves in my face, while cutting stock. Not a pleasant experience. These are a sturdy foam, and would be a lot less menacing if they did break loose. The foam feathers are also a replaceable insert, so can be replaced when needed at a minimal cash outlay. They also make one specific for bandsaw. Al has one, but not sure if he's tried it yet.

Admission time. I have one of the Autodesk shavers. And I swore it made a difference. But I then ripped my CD collection to a NAS drive using dBpoweramp, using FLAC lossless encoding. Now dBpoweramp compares your rip, track by track with all other rips in their database with an 8 hexadecimal number checksum (if all F's that is over 4 billion decimal). If it is green, it is a bit-perfect rip as compared with possible a hundred or more previous rips. If it is red, there is a checksum error, even by one bit. Close examination of the offending CD usually revealed a scratch or aluminium layer pin holes. Scratches can be polished out, but pinholes are end of story. If the checksum is green, then that data is added to the rip accuracy library. But there was absolutely no difference to the accuracy of the rip whether the disc had been shaved or not. So like the video shows, it seems that there is no real effect in shaving and black colouring the edge.

I think Doug is going to need to talk to his Analyst after reading the nail comment. It's OK Doug. Pretend you never read that.

Made it onto the Ocoee this weekend. It was the "easy" section, and a short day, but still a good time. I'm going to try for the whole middle section in 2 weeks.

I am going to listen to the new album tonight but it will be a little bittersweet. I have sfjazz tickets to see these guys on Sept. 23 but we're not going to be back from our summer trip by then (for good reason and to see some HC people in Chicago).
