  2. A new electrostatic from Dan Clark is arriving -- the Corina. I've had the opportunity to try it and if you are a SR-007 person and not as into the 009/X9K, this is a fulfilling option. It does require considerable power, which the Stax mafia has been taking care of since ~2003 https://www.headamp.com/products/dan-clark-corina

  3. Got some new cables to try in my Pi-streamer/GaN amp system, pulled this out after many months, remembered how much I liked this. A bit "lively" sounding but good on a good stereo, too.

  4. depending on how old the amp is, we added a ground loop breaker later, but where did you come up with this 62k value? We use 10 ohms in parallel with the .1uF cap (300VAC mains rated) in parallel with a 35A bridge rectifier you can also try grounding one side of the filament supplies, which are AC Surprisingly, we get only 10mVrms of "noise" on the output after careful selection of 12AX7/ECC83 tubes, which is going to have the most influence on your hum. Best I found were the JJ ECC83S which shipped with the amp. Old "special quiet tubes" may not be so quiet.

  6. On my train and running on schedule. Unsure how long it will take to get to Brooklyn but I will definitely appreciate lunch. Edit: about 35 minutes according to my phone, 1230 or a little after should work for me.

  13. Officially eliminated the headphones and the amp as the issue. I used another DAC/amp to test and the static and imbalance went away taking out my Audio GD D27's balanced output. Through the analog outs the left channel still seems slightly quiet but it's not nearly as bad. That's better news than my SR-007 failing after a couple days but I never thought an AGD product would fail me.

  15. I look forward to trying these out but the damping does make the worried. DCA feel the need to add damping to everything while being shit at doing it, I mean the Voce was pretty much terrible in ever way. Also the matched earpads has to be the stupidest shit ever, this is worse than Hifiman levels of utter BS.

  16. Any noise which changes with the volume control points to a source issue as the volume control is at the front of the circuit. The noise is being amplified and attenuated with the volume control. Could also be a ground issue as that would tie into the volume control as well

  17. Oops! Too much coffee this morning. That would explain why the testimonials were so polished... Still, I'm checking out his music too late.

  18. My train is supposed to arrive just before noon tomorrow to Penn Station. I can't check into the hotel until 4 so I will definitely need lunch and likely refreshments. I can head towards Court Street Grocers as soon as I get in. Beyond that, I have no concrete plans at all this weekend, just looking to enjoy the time.

  19. Michelle and I are up for Friday events provided work doesn't decide to need me at the last minute. No particular time constraints at this point.

  20. for people building their own bh, one side of the filsment winding has to be connected to v-, not ground. also applies to all other tube output stax amp.

  21. I finally built my Blue Hawaii - a single box KG 2015 which uses the mosfets, (but I will build the BJT boards too). All GR supplies. I was inspired by a Triumph Rocket motorcycle for the chrome trim and I wanted volume indication in the dark so it has a circle of leds and a delayed pointer off the heater warm up. While I was working all this out Kevin published the Grounded Grid so I am building one of those in a similar case. Looking forward to some extended listening now. Thanks Kevin for a great design

  22. I’m all packed up for the show tomorrow, but my jet lag is kicking in. I think I’m going to stay in and get a good night sleep. Tomorrow after the show I’m free. Enjoy
