Did the non Big Sur part of our trip with Joannes Sister, Sue, and took in the sights and wildlife of Monterey, Pacific Grove and Carmel (by the sea).

I've been in pocking/moving hell for the last month but the movers came on Monday and we are both in Denver (though some of our stuff is still in Durango). It's nice to be back in a place where I can walk to things. :) Having coffee at a nearby place and try to catch up a bit with work (and head-case).

This is the best worst thing you'll see today. In 1989, the Stone Roses blew the fuck up and became a household name in their native England overnight. They appeared on national television: "Made of Stone" is one of their most emotional tracks. I've been a fan of it since I got their debut album in the very early 90s. Seeing them perform it live in their prime would be amazing. They're not lip syncing. Score! Oh wow, they're doing a rendition much slower than the album version. This is going to be great ....oh shit. (There's a reason the video is only 2 1/2 minutes long.) Also the 1080p upscaling is ass, but that's a small matter.

Attending Wilco's Solid Sound Festival in North Adams MA. Billy Bragg opened proceedings and it started raining about three songs in but nobody cared much. Gang of Four soon and then Wilco with Billy Bragg who will perform music from their 1998 Mermaid Avenue album of Woody Guthrie songs live for the first time ever.

RIP Dale Jones, aka Bones, aka my mom's husband. He had been dealing with dementia and was moved to a nursing facility the day before. We knew it was coming but she has lost her brother, sister in law, a close cousin, and now Bones, all in the past few years. Not many people left in the family and it's tough for her.
