  1. How do you plug soup cans into a 1/4" jack, and what kind of cabling do you use?
  2. Happy Birthday, King of the Irate!
  3. Happy Birthday!
  4. Cool beard! I could never even come close to that! So you survived her trip? Re Acoustats: Nice! Always wanted to hear a pair of those!

  6. Spellcheck catastrophe?
  7. Been taking any Ambien lately? Or maybe you were referring to bars that served chicken? Or has HC been infiltrated?!
  8. Wow Shelly. I'm shocked.

Sad, I'll miss him. I grew up watching Columbo. He was really funny in The In-Laws, and I liked his cameo in The Princess Bride. RIP!
  11. Does that include the coney dog, or is that extra?
  12. I'm sure that's not covered. Unless they're the hybrid killer Africanized type.
  13. Right. Cover in toxic gas, then cover in fire.
  14. No, I haven't. I'll ask for that next time.
  15. Doubt it. But I'm pretty sure they'd cover bedbugs. Certainly, they'd cover super hybrid bed-term-bugs.
  16. Huh. I wasn't aware of their new organic, free-range, cage free, trans-fat free, high omega-3 fatty acid, line of products!
  17. Uh oh. My neighbor had termites. They had gotten into the foundation, and it was a big deal. I really hope that's not the case for you. Maybe you caught it early enough?
  18. I agree. I was planning to do it, if it was a few hundred dollars. I seem to remember Ryan saying he had his done for a few hundred, and Joe applied some unknown magical substance to the cups, did some other stuff, waved his magic wand, and it seemed to improve things. I called and said I was interested in the HP1000 upgrade, and he said here's how the upgrade works: they had to be in reasonable condition, you'd mail in your headphones and $1250, and he'd replace functional parts including the drivers and cable. I didn't have time to ask if there was an alternative service in which he'd keep the old drivers in, if they were working fine. But he didn't offer such a service, either. He said there may be a delay of a few weeks, since his wife was sick with cancer and he had to focus on her care for the next 2 weeks. I said I was sorry to hear that she was sick, and he said, 'c'est la vie, whaddya gonna do? But I need to focus on that for now, so I may not get back to you for a 2-3 weeks.'
  19. Just called him: $1250 for new 'functional parts', including cable and drivers among others.

I liked the other way better. Even if he's talking about the headphones, doesn't that imply having a hard head?
  21. Oh, god, that sounds just awful. I'm glad you survived! Happy drunk baking! Looking forward to pics. I always drool at those pics ... Oooh, have a great trip, Al! Never been, but it's high on my list! I've heard they might have some pretty good beer over there! An awesome achievement! Just kidding ... (reference to my embarrassing comment for when he graduated high school) Seriously, though, that must be all kinds of bittersweet. At least that's how I imagine I'm going to feel ...

Ok, two funny, self-effacing comments in one day ... what's going on here, is this bizarro head-case universe?

That was pretty good! Ya know, being able to laugh at yourself can be very valuable in life, I think ...
