hmm not sure what happened to that link - I didn't find them on the fischer site but amazon links them as the seller ..dB

Just had a quick peek and I see your dilemma - the max diameter is 22mm from the suppliers that I am familiar with. I did find these on amazon - not as pretty but they open to the right size and are significantly less expensive than the lab suppliers. I will have a look on Monday to see if some of the more obscure suppliers have anything that can handle such large diameters ..dB

Very curious about these new planars - they could well be the giant killers ( or the giants ) The lads go by the name Audeze and are at Catalina 2B if anyone cares to feed back ..dB

Runeight quote from HF A Completely Inadequate Response Hello everyone. As you all know I received an unexpected package today. When I saw who had sent it I wondered if Don was sending me a Stacker amp to debug!!!! You have managed to keep this under the radar for me and I have spent the last several hours trying to find a way to thank all of you. When I saw the note in the box with so many of your names on it I was not quite sure what to think! Then there was this Coupon for a $500 Eagle upgrade. I thought that Don was having some fun before I would discover exactly what he had sent me, but with all of the names attached to the Thank You note I didn't quite know what to think. As I pulled out boxes I found the orthos (beautifully done smeggy, thanks for the time it took and the craftsmanship) and the Senns and the ADs. Folks, I must honestly say that there were tears rolling done my face as I fully realized what you all had done. It is not possible for me to offer even a remotely adequate response. Your graciousness and care have been felt and they are deeply appreciated. Thank you all very much for each of your parts in this. And, especially to Don (who has prototyped more of my amps than anyone) for making it all happen. Thank you. I wish, somehow, that I could say more about how much this means. Hopefully over the next few days I'll get better at it. I have not listened to any of the headphones yet, wanting to have the quiet time to settle in with the Bijou and the SOHA II to give them all a good listen. As everyone knows I have been using a pair of Sonys for many years wondering what you all have been talking about when you describe the really good headphones and hoping that I'd get a pair of them someday. Now I have a rack of them!! And now that I have the full Eagle I guess I'll have to start designing bigger amps for you guys. So I see that there is also method in your madness. Thank you all again. I am still a bit speechless...

quote from AMBLABS "If you're building the 3-channel "active ground" configuration, please note that some parts have different values on the ground channel. " ..dB it only takes a few minutes for someone to beat ya to it

so I tried my hand at a little wood whittling and am now stuck with trying to keep a decent finish on them. This was the idea - I used Paduok and ARM-R-SEAL oil/poly to finish them off. I have applied several layers with a gentle rub down in between but it takes an age to feel dry to touch and even them they seem to be tacky for a few days. They lose their sheen very quickly when I start using them, they still work but I was hoping to keep that incredible wood grain that they have when I initially coat them. Any ideas other than using a different coating ? Is there something about arm-n-seal that I should know?? thanks..dB

I am hoping not ..dB

bollocks, this is the frustration of DIY when it doesn't work out as anticipated. waiting to hear on the HD600 and smeggy was replacing the plug on the cable which somehow lost its tip..dB

Nearing final update status. The final verdict - Eagle and ATH AD2K ( by a slim margin ) , LW is looking into ordering the base parts for an HD600 and this will enable us to send this along too. Smeggy should be receiving the simple brass plaque for the stand and once everyting arrives I will post the bon voyage message and leave the rest up to the postal system. Thanks to all who participated in kind and spirit..dB

great idea and congrats. I think you will like them as you tend to like them loose ........ nope, no innuendo hidden in there, non whatsoever After listening to the ESP950, I can't get over how dark mine sound. I need to bring them up to my HP50 level ..dB

sounds reasonable but i would recommend a switch between the HP and speaker so that you don't have to unplug speakers to listen unless of course 90% of the time this will be your headphone amp ..dB
