That's essentially regular pricing for the drive- you can find it for the same price on Newegg now. They hit $100 each after rebate on Newegg or Fry's every now and then.

And rudistor approved! I wouldn't mind a stateside group buy of Hifi2000 cases for the KGSSHV, that would be quite convenient. I do wish that ATI cases were still around, I rather liked their designs.

So are hackers having any progress re-enabling the functionality? Last I checked they were but admittedly I haven't kept up to date on it.

Help me out with some book recommendations?
Great thread, been looking for new sci-fi/fantasy books to try so it's very timely .

I really like that stain color, any chance of a close up/better picture?

Ohh...didn't think to look on craigslist! I'll check that out and keep that on tab. TV's showing up today so I think for a while I'll be ghetto'ing it by sitting the TV and the center channel on the floor

I went there yesterday, thought of picking up the Lack tv stand but decided against it as it wasn't moddable to fit a center channel. Sticker shock happened when I looked at anything that used real wood. Yikes. I'll go and take a look again later this week, but at the couple hundred dollar price point I'm inclined to build my own, be it out of wood, 80/20, or a combination.

Anyone seen any deals on tv stands? I've been looking around but have been suffering some serious sticker shock issues, so much so that I'm tempted to just buy some wood and build a simple but sturdy stand myself. It also seems that most of them don't have space for a center channel speaker

WHS doesn't use RAID, it's more of a file level mirroring that can be enabled so it works fine even with the newer drives (which make up half of the drives in it). I'm guessing you're referring to WD's decision to disable the TLER functionality? I thought that they completely disabled it on the newer drives and it wasn't accessible anymore?

Hitachi 2tb drives run well in raid, as do the Samsungs. I've been using Caviar Greens in my older Mediasmart for a while now with no issues, but WHS is not a typical NAS....

Drobo Question: can i use a non-blank drive?
Not sure what model you have, but the manual for the Drobo FS states: So I'm going to guess that you should only insert blank drives or drives with stuff that you don't mind getting blanked.

That sounds like a plan!

Do you mean reasonably idiot proof or head-fi proof? [/couldn't resist] I'm thinking I'll build it when it's ready even though I don't currently own an O2.

Webcam Advice
The one I have is the Logitech 9000 and I've found it to be quite good. Amazon has it for $64.22, but it's $49.22 after rebate...not sure if $50 after rebate is ok or not

I was thinking of buying the Valhalla a while back, but I decided to get the Crack. Slightly different, but they both have tubes!

Beyer T50P review
You mean they're not as good as people say? I'm also interested in hearing one just out of morbid curiosity...

PS Audio PerfectWave DAC
Yes, they can certainly be used. The HDMI cable doesn't have to be super expensive either, as PS Audio's HDMI I2S output is differential.

Crack;Bottlehead OTL
I wouldn't mind a GB for the badge Thanks for the info, I just didn't know if there was anything specific I should look for while browsing Ebay. Very nice build btw, I think I'm going to stain mine dark like you did and perhaps get the top powder coated black.

Crack;Bottlehead OTL
Complete tube noob, so pardon the questions....Any recommendations on where to buy alternate tubes to try? Ebay? Any way to tell if a tube is good/bad without a tube tester or is it just plug in and pray?

The Official Head-Case Photography Thread.
Not quite the same, but I picked up the SD4000 for my sister for her graduation. I liked it quite a bit for the short while I had to play with it; it's specs look similar to the S95 so I think they're probably comparable.
