  1. Ah, very cool idea; I may have to try it out even though I already have the TPA usb board.
  2. You mean hooking up the buffalo32 inside a Slim Devices Transporter?
  3. I will be arriving sometime on thursday but will most likely be completely passed out for a while. I may be up for some helping out depending on how jetlagged/tired I am. Thursday, P
  4. I can see where you're coming from, but with the recent introduction of the pico usb dac I'm thinking it'd be unlikely
  5. I saw that Variac and thought that you might be interested....few minutes later I saw you posted on it. Grats!
  6. Very nice! I'm planning on trying my hand at creating something similar to the functionality of the twisted pear audio AC1. I reckon it should be an interesting experience learning to use the arduino platform.
  7. Wow, that's a rather sweet price for the kit. The remote is included in the price?
  8. Any link or info on the controller setup used?

Submitted my paperwork for my trip home yesterday, should get it back in about a week, after which I'll get my tickets.
  10. I have a pico and an opus. If I can't case up the buffalo in time for canjam, I'll throw the opus into a simple wood case and bring it instead. I think someone else should have a y1, then we can have a little comparison albeit under meet conditions. Of course, that still leaves out the source and amp...but I think there will be plenty of those around. edit: Doh, I only have the WM8740 version of the opus.
  11. I think you're correct morphsci, they mention using HDMI to transport I2S but don't talk about DSD.
  12. There are people already asking for them if they can do exactly that and the answer of course was no. Perhaps they're hoping the modding community will provide the hacking services needed?
  13. An Arduino board and accessories, it's going to be fun playing with it.
  14. great idea! should do headphone reviews that way too
  15. Wish I could give it a listening to!
  16. There's something to be said about interface responsiveness, when you upgrade to a decent SSD, if nothing else the increased snappiness of the computer is worth it.
  17. I'm in the Air Force, and I salute your dad. I'll also drink something good tonight in his honor.

To clarify, I live in Japan so when I saw that site I realized what i thought were normal prices here were a bargain compared to state-side Part of the surprise I experienced was due to the fact that the majority of Japanese made items sold in Japan are normally found cheaper in the states and everywhere other than Japan.

Holy crap, I didn't realize those sold for that much online / in the states
  20. Pico Slim? That sounds interesting!
  21. Latest edition of Fine Woodworking had a suggestion by a reader of mounting the small drawer cases to mdf and stacking them on top of a lazy susan. Looks and sounds like a great idea to maximize storage space in an relatively small area.

Anyone looking to split the cost of a room?
  23. Ah, I see. Budget constraints eh? That's rough
  24. How in the world did they end up with over 50 different models? Donated machines?
