I'm sure you're right and there will be options. We're an iOS household primarily, but have Android gear around and have always gone Nexus. This felt the first time we could stray and still stay in the Google family. Funny timing is all. EDIT: Wow, they're fast.

Fan of Chromebooks, but has Skype shown up there yet? Course there's Google Hangouts as an alternative. My mom has moved to an iPad (along with an iPhone) for photography, reading, movies, surfing, etc. Know that's not what you're looking for, but it has liberated her. She's way more productive and my tech support calls have effectively ended. Plus larger version rumored this year (who knows?).

A Belkin arrived today for work (why I looked that that sale was still on for home), but I don't have 10.8.3 yet so can't use. That may change next week. I guess it comes down to port choice, but FW is more important than HDMI for me. Or put another way with Apples current offerings your next machine is much more likely to have HDMI than FW. Course those with several monitors.
