Dayam, a throwdown! It took me a while to read that tho because you quoted billy and put your 2 cents in all in one monster quote - my head is swimming in purple! the more amazing thing to me is this - bhd812 on Today at 08:41:13 am What the heck is Billy doing up before 9am posting? Even I don't do that! That's dedication!

I love the pic on Todd's site - http://www.ttvj.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&manufacturers_id=5&products_id=802
-
thanks, i'll DL that when i get home!
-
haha yep, his reaction to the K340 out of my rig was a downer, sorry about that! i blame my rig 100%
-
Yep I guess folks got tipped off when they saw the box I kept the Lambdas in - what can I say, the deals are there if you look under every rock! BTW the Ultrasone designer really dug the Lambdas too, he was actually getting nostalgic about it. The month I got that rig was a tight one financially and I literally was sweating when I pulled it off because I just paid for some HF-1s too - I was in the doghouse for a good 3 months after that, it was scary. But now I look back and think it was worth it for having a nice solid change of pace rig to go with the Grados!
-
that thing reminds me of Oski's floor lamp - he has a VW Bug headlight pointed straight up, and a carr battery below pumping the juice. It actually works really well and throws a nice pattern on the ceiling!
-
imho, by the way, is ILuvSony. I think you all remember his brief but ridiculous history on head-fi. I tend to not rise to any imho-baiting threads just for my own sanity now.
-
Agreed! The Melos definitely didn't bring the Juice. For some reason I keep getting amps like Pinkie and the Melos that sound great with Grados (my thing) but suck with AKGs and Sonys. They just are, blah.
-
There was a pair of modded K340s at the sunday Nat Meet that were bassless out of my Melos - it isn't the Melos' fault, honest, because the new Grados with flats had SERIOUS slammin' deep impactful bass. I'll say this for the modded K340s tho - it had more bass than the R10s did. Dunno why, but I only seem to hear the bass from R10s from The Stealth and the SDS-XLR.

aaahhhh that makes sense. it's hiding behind that big, uh, filament? inside the bulb.
-
if one makes its way to NYC someday we'll have a deathmatch!
-
hmm my work gave me one but i can only get email on it - no cellphone, no internet. suckage.
-
My fave quote from that webcast - "Brian Adamsons (to All): watch some lamer like jahn win the grado package"
-
my kid would have nightmares having that as a nitelight! and btw interesting that the first pic doesn't show the lettering on the bulb, but the nite shot does. ah, camera tricks!
-
ok fess up - who paid for that thing!
-
i can tell you the exactomundo price - 150 for the unit, 250 for the mods! but that might not be reflective of prices for mods elsewhere - it seems everyone does a little something different to their units and costs for parts and labor fluctuate based on that of course. again, i'm not a diy guy, but i think mine had the opamp output stage bypassed, and it's passive now with just caps in the chain - i think that's the big thing. the rest are parts upgrades and such to clean up the power, among other things.
-
See now that's what I'm talking about! Official post from Todd about the GS1000, Mikhail pulling away from the pack, this is getting good! Dammit, need to get home and read, NOW! I'm so desperate, I even signed up to CNET!
-
that's what i should do - come home, set the timer at 30 min, spam CHURRO CHURRO CHURRO until i get to 30 posts, then relax and just read the boards. what a way to get it out of my system. and seriously, nothing's going on over there? the last i read before i logged off last night is that we broke the old slashdot record for most members on at one time due to the Stereophile writeup.

You know, it makes sense that GS stands for Grado Statement, since they already put out a Cart with that terminology and John may be staying consistent- Grado "The Statement" MM Cartridge $2500.00
-
hehe seriously! head-case is too slow for me here, i'm starving to bounce posts off anything new that pops up! so dont' take it seriously if i jump on a post, it's just me grasping at straws! and Alex is probably still wondering why his wife is looking at him funny...
-
Classic! They said it to John's face! No wonder he was wakling around with a funny look that day!
-
Haha yeah, if anything, I'm going to post more because I've been saving up all day to spew at night - I'll be like a kid who has a minute to grab as much candy as he can! And Jude swore he had nothing to do with it when I asked him at the Nat. Meet
-
over 3K more than our estimate. bejeezus.
-
Since at work this is the last place I can sneak into, post here with any interesting stuff going on in the other forum - copy and paste posts, or summarize an interesting development or news or something. Toss me a bone! Just don't link there 'cause I can't use it! That way I hit the ground running when I get home, and keep sane at work. "Hi guys I'm back from work! I hear that Grado decided to name his new cans JAHN-1000, that's cool! What, they aren't? CURSE YOU, MJG!"
-
BTW my fully-burned in DAC-ah came to the Nat Meet, and let's just say the oohing and aahing going on about the GS-1000's bass with flats was with using the DAC-ah as a source. I'd say it's been modded up to a point where I'm completely happy to be done with DACs now, and concentrate on other parts of my system. Maybe my transport - the 0404, even modded, might need a little help since it's living in the deathbox that is my ancient Dell! But yeah, NOS DACs bring the Bass. Nice and natural!
