best SQ available in a portable amplifier
Post replied to omendelovitz's topic in Headphone Amplification
i dunno about your DAPs, but try to walk into an apple store and hook up your rig. i can crank my ipod to 100% (no eq of course, eq is the devil, especially on an ipod) and my Headamp AE-1 delivers clean signal up past earbleed levels. So take your hornet, plug it into an ipod, preferrably through a demo ipod radio remote if they have it instead of the headphone out, and see if the hornet breaks up on you. -
I don't think folks really mind where I post, as long as I don't rob peter to pay paul so to speak. After all, it looks like my rhythm now is headcaser by day, headfier by nite - which is fine, since this place gets less traffic - so i can get more work done, hehe!

what the heck, first name basis too! good stuff, i think the only better service i've heard about was from Koss, hehe.
-
i remember that too, some sort of "destressing" technique!
-
That's a fair outlook. It's like the HD650 - it goes crazy during burn in until it settles down after a few hundred hours. But the GS1000 sounds like it's doing that at 10 times the rate hehe - Grado drivers do always seem to break in quicker!

i thought the cables were crap but the power stuff was ok.
-
you painted it too! does it have external hum?
-
You just saved me money!

good point. i'm going to buy an xlr-to-1/4 cable, then a 1/4 mono to dual mono 1/4 splitter...oh hold on, can't the EMU software just take one channel and spread it mono across both channels? I'm going to save me some money. OK, just a xlr-to-1/4 mono cable then. That should do it? argh!

this sucks. now i'm getting GAS about home recording again. about to pick up a SHURE SM57 mic, and hunting for a mic preamp as we speak. makes sense since i already have a EMU 0404. dammit. if i just had head-fi, i'd stick to one hobby!

Post replied to justin's topic in Product Annoucements
If there's any plans for the new AE-1 module, consider me for a beta too! -
congrats man! welcome to the Rat Race!
-
they only have as much bass as the ps-1 when you put non-bagel pads on there. with the bagels, it's totally cool.

Well, I see Tyll is, based on this blurb from Stereophile- HeadRoom's Headphone Heaven Tired of reading about the best in headphone technology and not being able to try them out? Take a test ride with HeadRoom headphones costing from $10 to $500, and hear how to make your computers music, iPods and mobile gear give their best performance ever. Anyone else reporting for duty?

"Yeah, that's my buttcrack. What of it?"

i know how big that conditioner is - i own one. meaning, that amp is on a scale of WHOA that's BIG! i'd say, about the size of a Rudistor RP5.1. Those tubes look tiny up on top! But still, kudos for keeping them exposed versus swallowing them up in the box. Great job, I'll look forward to impressions!
