i love best buy's warranty. i have a spankin' new portable dvd player sitting in the closet because of it. when my ipod finally dies, i am so going to activate its bestbuy warranty too. btw i got a scare both going to and from LA on the plane with my ipod, which refused to work, but works fine on the ground. i chalk it up to the ipod being scared of heights.

is that commercially available? i tried to google a place that carried it but came up spades.

Hell yeah! Mike Tyson voted for Bush!
-
hehe, bozebuttons and wcmcmanus both won those minis, they were probably thinking "i have to bling out a portable rig now too? argh!"

can i please add these posts to my head-fi count somehow? huh?

i love the thought process. 1)jjcha hears the recabled KSC-35 at the nat meet. 2)he likes what he hears. 3)he sees it's by GE. 4)so he gets QUALIAS recabled that way too. The Man. that's all i'll say.
-
mercuttio freaked out when i handed him a copy of the NY Post to read when i went to grab the car for the Nat Meet - it's like i dropped a rattlesnake in his lap. but i actually don't mind getting that conservative rag - my wife needs it for work (page 6), i get some hilarious Sports color commentary, and it's always nice to read up on what the Post spoons folks daily.

the transformer is actually on a long threaded bolt held by a wingnut. so it's not a prob to add more padding if that's all it will take. I'm going to slice up a pandafoot here and get my sorbothane mojo going!

Well, might as well make this worthwhile. Let's make it the mandatory Hotness Thread. To be perfectly fair, if you prefer a different gender, post em up - no one's gonna mod it out. Man Faye, however, is the only exception. Here's the first pic - cute or supercute? Hapas are the Hotness.

this den looks like the soul of an audiophile who can't wait for the Internet to become widespread enough to share his passions. audio passions. we're glad you did!

I just read a biography on Lincoln. If I was around (and allowed) to vote back when the Republican Party was first formed, I would have voted Republican. But this is a new day, and since my first vote I've always voted Democrat - and it doesn't look like there's any reason to change my Party in the near future.

At least put up a pic or something. Just not a pic of you please \

Personally I'm still down with Roller-Skate Powder made of Shakti Stone.
-
He's lurking around, for instance on Megatoyko and on inkmo.deviantart.com and his own page on wastedpaper.net And he's still active and loves cans, apparently...
-
Either that, or pulverized shakti stone encased in hot glue
-
i think i'm ready to vote now.
-
oh snap!
-
when's the contest over? we have some good stuff to work with here already.
-
The Oracle? Close - you should have called it "The One"
-
Even Google Trends agrees with this poll so far! Well, I took out "the One" because it totally crushed the wires...

Hi Guys, I want to end up in heaven , not hell , so please tell me which is better. Of course I reserve the right to change my mind, so as not to be narrow minded.

I am SO sad. I'm so hard up, I even went on Google Cache to try to get to Head-fi, and only pulled stuff older than 5/6/06. Oh well. The good news is that I found an old comparo I did with AT woodies i've heard, and typed out some thoughts on Synergy you might find interesting - I feel that there are four types of cans when you talk about synergy- 1)The can is "trying to do something" and so needs the right rig to go with it so it can pull off what it's trying to do in terms of frequency response, dynamics, etc. Without the right rig, it can go south quick. Example - W5000. It's worth paying the money to make it happen tho, because the W5000 WILL give you that payoff, it has that potential to take you to that "High End" realm. A non-AT can like this would be the SA5000. 2)The can isn't trying to do anything other than live in its own world and conform all rigs and tunes to it. This integrating, forgiving can is great for long relaxing listens IF you enjoy the signature. The W10VTG is this kind of can - good thing I like this signature hehe! No matter what you plug it into - iRiver, straight into a CDP to an Earmax, or using an external DAC/headphone amp like the Grace m902 - this W10VTG will wrap you in a nice cocoon of comfort. A non-AT can like this would be the KSC-35 - forgiving but having its own signature no matter what. 3)The can is so neutral and transparent that it seems to work with everything, and only seems to fail when the components or tracks fail, hehe. And yet, they have their own signature with that fun X factor that doesn't color, but just pleases. Ok, I'm biased, but I think the examples for me here are my HP2 and Stax Lambda Pros. Just a note tho - general consensus is that the my HP2 is a "most un-Grado like Grado" and the STAX is a most "un-STAX like STAX" because they don't carry the pitfalls of the stereotypical Grate-O or Electrostatic Etch. Larry has something to do with the Darth Grado's response, but I guess the STAX has to just chalk it up to baking in a Pioneer coffin case for 20 years, hehe. 4)The can is so particular in what it's trying to do, that getting the right synergy for it is nigh impossible, and anything falling short is a crash and burn affair. IMHO, the CD3000, the Qualia, and the W2002 fall in this category - you just have to feel like the engineers had SOMEthing in mind, but you just can't seem to make it happen, it's very frustrating. That doesn't stop people from stepping up and trying tho - that's the fun part of this hobby, other than just kicking back and grooving to the tunes!

wow thats one gigantic magnet!

Kevin, if you're game, I'd gladly pay the shipping for some loops of that! I can then make some ICs and even recable this AKG81DJ here!
