  1. "2)Ok, it is smart to post this on head-fi? 3)Conclusion - nope." yeah, skipping step 2 usually gets folks in trouble. unless they do step 2 and never get to step 3 due to...reasons.
  2. Here's the thought process - 1)Hey I think Jude's company makes viruses. 2)Ok, it is smart to post this on head-fi? 3)Conclusion - nope. 4)Do I REALLY wanna tell someone about it? 5)i am a slave to my baser desires. 6)Might as well post it up on head-case and let the jackals shred it up and see if there's any truth to it then. That's the safe way to go about it in the future, just FYI. it'll save you some hand wringing!
  3. not to be mean, but i don't think folks particularly care about your personal information. if they did they'd just look it up. if they cared about jude's personal info, they'd look it up. the mental breakdown is assuming everyone else cares about it since you care about it, and therefore you post his junk (and your junk) up for everyone to see. what do you get out of it? the thrill of possibly getting banned? like we said, folks who want to know will find out themselves, no need to post it.
  4. it sounds like you're trying to be banned. do you WANT to be banned? if not, why worry about being banned? just be yourself, and if being yourself gets you banned, well i guess you just have a bannable personality, nothing you can do about that.
  5. while here we just get the pleasure of seeing him crumple in public. who is this guy anyhow?
  6. doesn't work anyhoo. i tried to get in a few last words then self-lock, but those darn admins seem to be able to get around that :'(
  7. and now only a few months later, here is the SMIV. this is why i feel wonky about getting Xin products - resale value is not good since every few months, here comes a bigger and better product!
  8. honestly with the HP1 i couldn't tell the diff tween both being neg or both being pos, but when you threw them out of phase (one neg one pos) it was a huge diff.
  9. Since this isn't censored, I guess this is the right forum to put Inkmo's latest! This is why I hate vinyl!
  10. Not to worry, even the great Django only needed 2 fingers to play! "by Joseph Dinkins Django Reinhardt has astounded and thrilled numerous generations of guitar players and jazz lovers with his amazing command of the guitar. January 24th, 1910 at Liberchies Belgium, Django was born into the open air, rambling lifestyle of his gypsy parents. At the age of eight, his mother's tribe settled near the belt of fortifications that surrounded the old Paris, near the Choisy gate. He never wore a suit or lived in a real house until he was twenty years old. These French Gypsies or Manouches were a world unto themselves, medieval in their beliefs, and distrustful of modern science. Django grew up in this world of contradictions, one foot in the bustling big city of Paris and the other in the age-old life of the nomadic gypsy. Though born into poverty Django had the soul of a nobleman and this natural elegance of bearing and attitude expressed itself in his music. It was at an early age Django became attracted to music. When twelve years old he received his first instrument, a banjo/guitar that was given to him by a neighbor who had noticed his keen interest in music. He quickly learned to play, mimicking the fingerings of musicians he watched. He was soon astounding adults with his ability on the guitar, and before he was thirteen he began his musical career playing with popular accordionist Guerino at a dance hall on the Rue Monge. He went on to play with numerous other bands and musicians and made his first recordings with accordionist Jean Vaissade for the Ideal Company. Since Django could not read or write at the time "Jiango Renard" was how his name appeared on these records. On November 2nd, 1928 an event took place that would forever change Django's life. At one o'clock in the morning the 18 year old Django returned from a night of playing music at a new club "La Java" to the caravan that was now the home of himself and his new wife. The caravan was filled with celluloid flowers his wife had made to sell at the market on the following day. Django upon hearing what he thought was a mouse among the flowers bent down with a candle to look. The wick from the candle fell into the highly flammable celluloid flowers and the caravan was almost instantly transformed into a raging inferno. Django wrapped himself in a blanket to shield him from the flames. Somehow he and his wife made it across the blazing room to safety outside, but his left hand, and his right side from knee to waist were badly burned. Initially doctors wanted to amputate his leg but Django refused. He was moved to a nursing home where the care was so good his leg was saved. Django was bedridden for eighteen months. During this time he was given a guitar, and with great determination Django created a whole new fingering system built around the two fingers on his left hand that had full mobility. His fourth and fifth digits of the left hand were permanently curled towards the palm due to the tendons shrinking from the heat of the fire. He could use them on the first two strings of the guitar for chords and octaves but complete extension of these fingers was impossible. His soloing was all done with the index and middle fingers! Film clips of Django show his technique to be graceful and precise, almost defying belief."
  11. Too bad you aren't going to be near the NYC meet next month, I woulda run downstairs and grabbed an axe and shown you a few tips. I like the open E-minor chord too, and when you run up the fretboard using the Open E-major minor minor major major to end at an A...magix.
  12. O'Dox is about to join the Mile High Club.
  13. Just a note - I HATE the F-Chord. It's one of the hardest chords for a beginner to get down, which is unfortunate since it's the basis of the "Power Chord" as you run up and down the neck. Honestly, I pretty much just stick to an open E-chord (looks the same but you use different fingering and there's no finger barring on top) and run up and down with that.
  14. i say go with a preamp that doubles as your headphone amp, and send that to a power amp that can push both your speakers and a K1000. i have a poor man version of this with my Melos preamp/headphone amp and the cheapo marantz receiver, but it does the trick.
  15. yep that's it! it will curl up, look like thick dead skin, and eventually peel off. gross but do NOT pick at it. there's a pad growing under there taking its time!
  16. take a week or two to get the baby calluses going at that rate, then they'll peel off quite grossly for weeks after that until by the end of summer you've got the pads that will last you your whole life as long as you pick an axe up at least once a week. the D chord stinks for beginners i know. but once you have that down, you'll be able to use the pinky and lift the middle finger off during songs to really add a lot of flavor. for that chord just remembeer that the pointer and ring finger are the supports and you're coming straight down, perpendicular to the fretboard right on those strings, supported by your thumb on the back of the neck (when you're lazier and stronger, you can use the palm of your hand on the back of the neck to provide the clamping tension). for the A chord? i'm not double jointed so instead of going the easy route and just barring all three strings with my ring finger, i have to actually use all three fingers to bar that chord. it's a pain. but that also gives me flexibility, since i can fingerstyle by lifting off any of those fingers to add some nice touches to a tune. good luck, strengthen those fingers, and cut those ligaments if they get in the way!
  17. Ah very cool! Yep, I would head down to the guitar store and have them set it up for you properly. The stinging fingers will go away when you get your baby calluses, come back when those fall off, then disappear for good when you get your pads (the tips of your fingers will look normal but they'll be tough!) This is the worst time, but once it's over you'll be on automatic and strumming to your fave tunes! Go online and find Tabs (Tablature) and learn how to put your fingers down on the frets - that's the quick and dirty way to learn. Strumming? Just go with what sounds good. Start with your thumb and get a pick (plectrum) once you have a good sense of rhythm going. Good luck!

  20. Only three pieces of advice - 1)Buy used if you can. As long as there isn't a crack on the soundboard, you're golden. 2)Make certain the soundboard is solid wood. The ones using laminate for the top = bad guitars, and won't improve with age. 3)If you buy it at a store, have them set it up for your for free. If you get it online or elsewhere, take it to a shop for a onceover before learning. Nothing turns off beginners more than a badly set up guitar. For a starter, I'd ask for something with low action, yet high enough not to buzz when the humidity gets low.
  21. well if i pay $450 more than even that, maybe i can swing this awesome ride... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/MAKE-OFFER-2000-GMC-3500-NO-WINDOWS-1-OWNER-LADDER-RACK_W0QQitemZ4648559461QQihZ002QQcategoryZ6250QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem uh, I'll take the siltech transformer, thank you very much.

    Hello

ok so far i troll 3 types of boards - headphones, anime and music recording. And Aria has shown up in two. Headphones - LFF's shot with her. Anime - This guy - http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?showtopic=19354&view=findpost&p=409024 if Aria completes the trifecta by posing with a geek over at homerecording.com, that's when I'll start getting suspicious.

  24. the analog meters in my MAudio DMP3 are backlit (plain old bulb, not blue) and they look great. I wonder how much they cost (two on there) since the unit itself was around 100.
