  1. Messed up, maybe. Maybe messed up in terms of a parent reporting the relationship the minute she turned 18, although there are probably many, many examples of the same situation occurring with young heterosexual couples involved where a parent notifies the authorities in the exact same way, the minute one of them turns 18. But putting the parental involvement aside, what is so wrong in society's concern over a sexual relationship involving one person who is of legal age and another person who is a minor? Society has always been concerned about these types of situations. There are statutory rape laws in every one of the 50 states. But now, suddenly, it is a bad thing for society to be concerned about a person who is of legal age having a sexual relationship with a person who is a minor, and a 14 year old at that? Why? Because lesbians should be exempt from the same laws that non-lesbians are subjected to? If the 18 year old in question were a young man, and not a young woman, he would likely be tried as an adult for statutory rape, but because it's a lesbian couple, suddenly there is no issue for society to deal with? This should be of no concern to anyone, and why? Because lesbians are a special protected class? Because a lesbian cannot possibly inflict physical or emotional harm on a minor through a sexual relationship? Again, what might be fucked up in this particular situation is the parental involvement. But ask yourself, does it suddenly become a crime the minute a boy turns 18 and thus in the eyes of the law, becomes a man, and is now carrying out illegal acts with a minor (his girlfriend) who has not yet reached the age of consent? Yup. That's a crime. Always has been, and always will be. It might not always be "fair" and if the age of the minor is close to the age of the adult, then it might not get prosecuted. But by law in all 50 states, it is at least a violation of the law that would be subject to prosecutorial discretion. None of you who have replied to this thread can see the double standard? Suppose I'll be attacked ad hominem as being homophobic because I don't think there should be a different laws or different standards in the application of the law, merely because of sexual orientation. Have at me. Is the idea to have equal rights for gays and lesbians, but not equal responsibilities? Interesting.
  2. Happy birthday, Raffy!
  3. Happy birthday, Brent!
  4. Happy birthday!
  5. Funny stuff here, and oh my is she in shape! The funny part is in the first minute. The rest of the video is mostly for Dusty and Naaman. http://jokideo.com/funny-video-workout-video-epic-fail/
  6. 24 / 3.14 = 7.64 or about 7 5/8". Does that seem about right? Dude, you don't have a big head! Not compared to me or to Brent! Mine is around 8" and sometimes 8 1/8" hats are a better fit.
  7. Did you know that hat sizes are determined by measuring the circumference of your head (about one inch above the ears) and dividing the result in inches by pi? I did not know that. I believe that's the first time I've ever run across a practical application of pi (to my life anyway, at least to my knowledge, which admittedly is quite limited). Edit: Just Googled it and see that this is actually definitional with respect to circumference, diameter and pi, but I guess I must admit it has been a long time since I took a math class, although I did have 4 years in high school and another year in college, but that was a long, long time ago and I forgot everything about pi (like what it's used for) except that it starts with 3.14 and never ends.
  8. ^ On the contrary, you're quite slim, and would make a fine bridesmaid, Grahame.
  9. Sad news, indeed. Ray was the main reason The Doors stayed together for as long as they did. He seemed to be the only one to have patience enough to deal with Jim during his downward spiral. LA Woman probably would have never happened were it not to Ray's leadership and persistence. Then again, Ray was the rock from the beginning and put the group together from day one. RIP, good man.
  10. Geez, this really wasn't about killing your friends, or killing anybody for that matter. I saw it merely as social commentary about the illegal immigration issue, which has become a real problem in the US in my opinion, and that millions of other Americans of every race, creed, color, and/or political persuasion. Yet, even with respect to that issue, this particular comment was more of a "rolling of the eyes" than anything. I didn't find it particularly zenophobic and I know well it's like to live in a country that I'm not from originally.
  11. Read it again. It doesn't say anything about "look like" and doesn't even suggest racial profiling. It says they are going to kill "anyone who is a legal U.S. citizen." So no worries. Your relatives and friends will be Ok. What's not humorous is 13 million illegal aliens in the U.S., and a high concentration of them are in the L.A. area, Phoenix, Miami, etc. It's not even a political statement because the responsibility lies with both parties, neither of which has done much to get the situation under control.
  12. Rumors are circulating in California that radical Muslims are planning to go on a rampage in Los Angeles, killing anyone who is a legal U.S. citizen. Police fear the death toll could be as high as 12.
  13. ^ Ok, I feel better now,

  15. WAT?!??! Someone stole your bike??!?!? That could only happen to you, Brent. Try to do a nice thing, go miles and miles out of your way to do so, not to mention riding miles and miles more than you ought to have, and that's the thanks you get!!! Someone at a friggin' charitable event steals your bike... wow.
  16. Great job, Brent, and for such a good cause!
  17. More stuff.

Apparently he decided to cash in the chips today. Sad. The guy had the best name ever, and will be missed. http://www.cnn.com/2013/05/16/sport/motorsport/north-carolina-trickle-obit/?hpt=hp_t2
  19. I thought for a second that I read biotin, which is the kind of thing that we talk about on the Santa forum. Yes, I take biotin every day. It supposedly improves the health of your hair (and nails).

  22. Hey now! I watched the last couple innings of that game too, and they made a valiant comeback, just like they did yesterday... only to lose... again.
