Michael Schumacher in a coma following a skiing accident. Although he was a driver I loved to hate, that was sport and has nothing to do with real life. I have no doubt that if the will to live has anything to do with it, he'll survive. http://www.nytimes.com/2013/12/31/sports/autoracing/schumacher.html?_r=0

And now what did you do TODAY?
Guessing that must've been at Edwards Graham? Never been there but sure would like to one of these days. I love those techie roadside attractions.

, a well-educated gent named Paul from Bricasti (they make an expensive but nice DAC, as well as a bunch of professional gear). Bricasti is pretty much considered among the best reverb units money can buy today. If you enjoyed anything recorded in the last 5 years or so, you've heard one plenty of times.

RIP someone or another
Wow, Can't believe she was still kickin'! The deHavilland sisters were kinda local celebs so I'm sure they'll be lots of name dropping here. I'm sorry to hear about O'Tool.

Which Cooking Are You?
I cooked the "pedestrian" Thanksgiving dinner. Ate way too much. My kitchen looks like Thing 1 and Thing 2 spent a good bit of time in there. All I wanta do now is watch some of the Lady Gaga Muppets special to try and guess what the exec's over on ABC were thinkin'!

- Happy Thanksgiving to all of you!
Happy Thanksgiving HC! Thanks to all the folks who make this a great place to touch faraway friends new and old and learn about music that I'd never had heard or learned to appreciate (even though I almost never post in the "What are you listening to" thread, I do my best to check out almost everything posted). Enjoy the day!- What are you listening to Part the Third
Oops forgot,.. Senn 580?- What are you listening to Part the Third
Awesome stuff Douglas! You guys should be proud. I caught some of your posts over on Gearslutz. So you went direct to a 744? Ric, I'm loving the posts about the Llewyn Davis film. I was a big Dave Van Ronk fan back in the day. Still have some vinyl around here somewhere. You might search around for some Phil Ochs. He was a fav of mine from that era.- CHESS
Nice game! Played in tournaments in the 80's (US Open a couple of times). I used to play all over California. I haven't played anything but a few 5 minute games here and there since. I came across a couple of boxes of my old chess books the other day while I was deciding what books I really wanted to save. Fisher's 50 Favorite Games made the cut. Brought back some memories of when I all my friends were SF Bay Area chess guys. Those were some very crazy days!- What are you listening to Part the Third
Wow! Great sounding tracks. Now I want a pair of CM3's for Xmas.- And now what did you do TODAY?
Dusty, glad there was a silver lining! In fact, a couple of weeks ago I attended a memorial service for the wife of an old friend of mine who died of breast cancer at the young age of 51. I hadn't kept in touch with my buddy very much or our mutual friends. And just like you, after the formal service which was massively sad, i bumped into one old friend after another and had more great hugs than I've had in 2 decades. At the reception, I went from one friend to the next to "catch up" and stayed way longer than I would've ever guessed. When I think back, I still feel a little guilty about having such a damn good time while my buddy was in pieces but knowing him and his wife, they would be glad that the service brought us all back together again. It makes me feel better to hear that you had a similar experience.- And now what did you do TODAY?
Sorry to hear about Ozzy. Sounds like he couldn't hope to be loved any more though. Narcotics have a negative effect on respiration so it's always a balancing act even for someone who can tell you when they're doing their job or not. Generally, in an end of life situation, it's considered to be more important to be comfortable so narcotic dosage can be a little on the heavy side.- Formula 1 Thread
Even though the drivers championship was decided in India, I can't say that I enjoyed the last races of this season any less (I thought that I might but I was just as glued to the set every lap!). Very sorry to see Webber leave the series but I'll be watching him in the sports car series now. I must say that my opinion of Vettel has warmed a bit and the points that Hobbs and company have made regarding seeing F1 history being made is well taken. Seeing Massa's emotion at leaving Ferrari in Brazil reminded me of the superstar status many of these guys have in their respective countries. And it also makes a stark contrast to the behavior of these guys to the bombastic/cartoon persona's that players in most other big sports present to the public. So, lots of stuff to look forward to seeing for 2014! I'm thinking that it might take a lot of races for all the teams to sort things out. I think it might highlight just how crazy it is not to allow on track testing! I can't help but feel sorry for the teams that are struggling for funding. Design talent is expensive! Still, the cars are the cars and the drivers are the drivers and however the cars turn out, the drivers characters will hold true. And that's really what keep me coming back for more. - Happy Thanksgiving to all of you!
