Dusty, you are correct. I have MBA > TB x HDMI cable > HDMI in on ViewSonic monitor with internal speakers, and get audio just fine. Todd, I may be missing something here, though, as I just do 2.1, not full on surround, so cannot verify that will work. I use this cheap TB/Mini DVI to HDMI cable from Amazon.

Jeff ... the most interesting new thing out right now for me is the Fuji X-T1. Seem to have speeded up focus to acceptable levels, and the Fuji/Zeiss lenses are pretty darn good. If you can go with the crop (APS C) sensor, it would be worth trying one out. I am in a gear moratorium right now, so am passing.

Jacob ... I installed the screen in my D700 myself. Pretty easy if you go slow, and have moderately steady hands and good tweezers.
