Post the last thing you bought!
Nate, Jack ... I empathize with your "Apple control freak" reaction. When I was designing and programming, it was all C++, VB, and SQL server, and the thought of such a controlled environment was anathema to me. I loved that I could build pc hardware exactly how I wanted, and tweak every aspect of the user experience to my liking. That was then, this is now. Since retiring, I bought a MacBook as a look at the dark side. Damn, if it didn't do all I wanted (I had no need to design or program anymore), and with ease and elegance. Even better, it had the full *nix command line experience available with terminal, which, admit it, is way beyond MSDOS was/will ever be. I was in heaven. It was like back in the '70s when I gave in to automatic transmission. Get over it, boys, Steve had the staying power and won the computer game. Bill made $$$ and split to do good. That's another story, and who knows who did more for the universe?

Canjam 2010.
What? That's all you got? Must be the estrogen levels rising from missing Canjam and going on the European vacation (NTTIAWWT). Even though it will be 7 or 8 in the morning for you when we drunk dial you from CJ, it will still feel like waking you up to us.

Yeah, except they broke the mold after doing me. Thank you for your support, Grahame, but Mike and classy in the same sentence doesn't work. Maybe he'll get a bit of culture on his visit to the isles.

I agree wit Dan - two mics for live, small venue stuff. JP, do you have access to Arnapol's mixer? If so, why not do one version right off the board?

I feel a hot dog throwdown is in order ... how late are these joints open? Nothing better than a couple of dogs at 2 am.

I really like LightRoom. I've never used Aperture. Maybe we should compare notes at CJ, Jacob?

Dinny ... I've had an EyeTV (older model) for3 years with wife's iMac. Works great, and lets iMac do double duty as TV. Becky loves to put TV show in a window while she does other stuff on computer. The included software is ok, and lets you record, much like a dvr. No complaints.

Sorry you can't make it, hirsch. Always fun to hang out with you. DC CanJam, eh? We heard it here first.

Jeff ... more great city shots. Beautiful light in the skyline, and I think I recognize a ConEd power plant in the 2nd, yes? 14th Street, or Waterside?
- Happy Birthday Brent

What did you do today?
Stephen ... congrats on a successful move (literally and figuratively) into home ownership. Abi has lots to explore and make her own. Mike ... bummer about your friend. You are a rock for being there for him. Al ... glad hell week is over, but that's why you get the big bucks. Trust you made it home, but if not, swoop down and tap me on the shoulder, and I'll do what I can to put your affairs in order. Sorry that Claire is at the mercy of the f'd up gov't and their inability to manage money.

Michael ... the Nikon 50 f/1.8 is a great lens, as is it's Canon counterpart. Well worth the $$$, and a screaming bargain compared to any other Nikon glass. Sharp, small and light to carry, and a joy to use. Once you have one, I'll wager you won't part with it. A little short for portrait on FF, but very good on DX. Not the otherworldly bokeh of the 85 1.4, but similar to the 85 1.8 It feels a bit cheap and plastic like, but don't let that deter you. The glass is for real, and that's what counts.

Breakfast with Ginger
Are you sure that wasn't shot at Tyrion's house? Looks a lot like Achilles.

You work fast, Ryan. No iPad this morning, then iPad monster within minutes of getting one. Way to go.

^^^ Mike, man up and order a T-shirt. We'll pick it up for you, and carry it around with us so it gets beer, whisk(e)y and food spilled on it, and, if you're really lucky, barfed on by some noob trying to keep up with the vets. Al, jp, Nate and many others will be happy to help in this endeavor to see that at least you have a shirt that has been to CanJam.

Doh! Should have warned you, Wayne. Sorry. If you find yourself in a So Portland dive called Evelyn's Tavern, do not, under any circumstances, mention my name in the same paragraph with "proprietor's daughter".

What did you do today?
Wow, V, sounds like a lovely afternoon. I'm guessing no arrests were made because the combatants likely scared the crap out of all the bystanders. At least it seems you had the sense to stay out of it. Yeah, leave those crazy people out of your life, and come join us at CanJam - good plan.

Jacob: clearly you need a table at CJ for all these knife use and sharpening seminars. That way it all gets done during daytime so no one loses valuable party and drinking hours. hmmmmm ... maybe Jeff, Vicki, Mike, and others can set up a gun table right next store. Yes, I like it. If HF didn't fear HC before, they will be scared shitless after this. Camo and black headkerchiefs for the lot of us.

Naaman and Jeff - nice shots from both of you. Naaman, the desert dwellers were really cool to see. Are there many living out in the wild like that? Jeff was your 1st skyline shot a pano , or just a wide lens? Loved the wtc and Trump vs Morgan Indy.
