  1. Not a celebrity, but a great guy and unique character. I worked with Dan B for 3-4 years, he was a Project Manager in IT. Bright, outgoing, almost always a positive attitude but had a sarcasm streak a mile wide in smaller/more comfortable groups. I often use the Dr. Evil saying "How about NO, you crazy Dutch bastard) in reply to someone asking for something they won't get....that practice started with Dan when he embarrassingly asked me (on behalf of the business users) if we could change what we just worked on for almost 6 months so they could do it another way. I showed him that video clip, and we had a great laugh.... A bunch of us from that company (the survivors as we call ourselves) keep in touch via regular gatherings and now Zoom calls. Dan would always gently bow out (he was farther away, and often very busy). The first picture below is from a long-term friend, and the later one is more how I knew him. Not sure of cause yet....but still too young!! RIP Dan, another one of the good guys gone....
  2. Happy Birthdays to yous!
  3. ^^ Was listening to that Palo Alto show the other day too. Story behind it is pretty nice.....
  4. Happy Birthday!!!
  5. Yup....instant Roon Endpoint! And their new internal back wave diffusion design.....
  6. Given your use cases, either machine would work well. BUT....I'd add a docking station to allow you to have an external monitor, keyboard, and mouse for that 99% home use. The GPU on the Dell is indeed lower than the MSI, but if you're not using that power for gaming and heavier video editing, you would still likely be fine; and, the external monitor @ 4K should be well achievable for both machines (the MSI resolution is a limitation of the screen, not the video card; so I'm assuming an external monitor can be driven at 4K and for home use you could ignore the laptop screen). For that 1% portability, the Dell would be lighter for sure. I'd give the edge to the MSI for more power and better GPU (more future-proof), with the caveat of the external monitor recommendation as best option for both machines.
  7. Sorry to hear Jose.... What a great picture, though! It's clear how close you and Sargent are.....
  8. Sorry Jeff, condolences to you, family, and friends. And despite a "good" 92 year run, fuck COVID!
  9. As a Pink Floyd fan, with my favorites being mostly pre-1972, this is just fantastic (that is really what I think! 😄)
  10. Fuck Fuck Fuck. RIP to an incredible woman, and incredible PERSON. And RIP to the sanity of the Supreme Court. I only wish (hope) that they could delay a new judge the same way they did it to Obama....
  11. Happy Birthday! Wishing good wine, good food, good family times, and breathable air!
  12. Happy (belated your time) Birthday!!
  13. I liked this....but couldn't help thinking it was Uncle Fester on bass 😄
  14. I looked at the specs on the Marantz slim model, very nice but only 50 wpc.....would need fairly efficient speakers methinks, a smaller room, or maybe use a separate multi-channel amp...
  15. I am just envious of Nate's gravity-defying beer skills.....
  16. RIP to a beautiful and talented woman!
  17. There's a guy in here named Steve that should make a joke about this.....
  18. RIP Gary....man, to play with Evans and Jarrett.....
  19. Happy Birthday!!
  20. Karen and I finished the Netflix series (through Season 2) of In The Dark. There's not a lot we like to watch together, and this was out there in several ways, but captivated us.....
  21. Aw, so sorry to hear....sympathies to Al, Claire, family, and you and Suzy too Steve! Our cat Tab has lung cancer, his days are numbered as well. Cancer sucks in ALL living things!
  22. If it's not New Yello, is it Old Yeller?
  23. Why has no one mentioned the elephant cat in the room? Steve: is that the Gallo subwoofer? I have the TR-1 as well.....
  24. RIP Tom Seaver, apparently had Dementia (the same type Robin Williams had) and COVID.....fuck both of those diseases! https://www.nytimes.com/2020/09/02/obituaries/tom-seaver-dead.html
  25. The reaction of the woman behind him, even with mask, is pretty funny
