I love Elizabeth/The Charismatic Voice; several others have also mentioned her. For me, I love how she geeks out to Heilung.
  3. Between yesterday and today, giving and feeling good. I've been talking to two different (one partially) homeless people for several months, always giving a 10 or 20 when I see them. At my son's insistence (!) I just gave one of them $300 in cash. To say the least, he was amazed and driven to tears and hugs. As I walked back to my car, this woman drives up to me and chats with me. "He's not REALLY homeless..." she says. I knew that; he has a wife and a dog, and his father in law lets him stay at his place at times. Otherwise, they live in a van. I acknowledged that, but also just said that people need some help now and then. A man came out of the passenger seat, she told me it was her son, and he has autism, so don't be put off. He was fairly high functioning, but you could tell he'd always need help. Anyway, we got to talking and this woman has a home, but also has had a tough time of things. So, I took the other $300 I had and gave it to her. We both started tearing up. Now I need to pull ANOTHER chunk out to give to the other person. He knows me by name, knows I lost my wife, and like the first guy I give him something whenever I see him. He also told me that - even though he's homeless and has limited capability to help - if I ever needed something he could provide, to not hesitate to ask. These folks are amazing. So yeah, I'll get him something that I hope will help him this winter. On top of all that, today my son (staying with me while condo being worked on) has a friend over and they are listening to a few of my systems. Son brought back some speakers I gave him, so offering them to his friend. TL;DR version: it feels fucking great to give and help others as long as I can!
  4. And yet another belated birthday greeting....don't let those pussies take your presents!!
  5. I had recently posted on FB about a visit to an Audio store where I heard a system approaching $500K list price. A hometown friend pinged me and - among other things - said he has a friend/classmate (Princeton I'd assume) who "runs Oswald Mills Audio." Maybe you can get a friend-of-friend-of-friend discount 🤣
  6. RIP Anthony Jackson, superb bassist..... I got to see him with the Hiromi Trio Project, so incredible; both Karen and I loved him (all of them), and she wasn't even a jazz fan. https://www.guitarworld.com/artists/bassists/anthony-jackson-dies-aged-73
  7. Happy Birthday Dusty! Did you get a greeting (card, e-card) from Al1ce?
  8. That was strangely endearing!
  9. Easy to go down the rabbit hole with these....found and liked this one, too
  10. Not sure if this is the best place to continue this discussion....but I love love love this woman and her sarcasm. There's another clip I saw on FB where she goes on factually to show why he doesn't deserve it. But even this part is great.
  11. Always loved her, beautiful woman!! For me, Looking For Mr. Goodbar and Baby Boom may be my faves. RIP......
  12. I just upgraded my mom's mini-PC to Win 11 today, with Win 10 ending support this week. You can pay $30 for one more year of security updates, which was my original plan. But then you NEED to create an MS account, and use it to login to your machine. That was a no-go for my tech-scared mom. Upgrade went fine, though. Machine is a bit slower, but it'll hold for a while. I had a little fun with Ubuntu. I got a Celeron-based Chromebox for $25 from a used Electronics store in Maine a few weeks ago. I was able to download & install a new BIOS for it, upped memory and SDD drive ($50 total), and loaded Ubuntu on it. Still a tiny bit slow, so TBD if I'll keep it like that. It was just fun to play with the innards and BIOS of a computer again.....
  13. ^^ Hoping things combust internally for him and the administration by 2026 Nobel voting.... But for now, moar HDD stuph
  14. Fourier Transform Speakers....unique, be interesting to hear..... Video about it:
  15. Holy shitballs, that's like conspiracy theory level of mods! Ric Shultz at EVS does some pretty crazy things at times, but I will say I have always heard improvements with his work. But yeah, what the actual fuck was that modder thinking?!
  16. Another great one gone....RIP John Lodge. What a voice (EDIT: along with Justin)! https://www.the-independent.com/arts-entertainment/music/news/john-lodge-moody-blues-justin-hayward-b2843232.html
  17. I like the DAC discussed in the P-F article! Looks like it'll be about $12K USD though......
  18. RIP to Susan Lucas, a.k.a. Soo Catwoman. Her image was pasted on SO many memories from my early days, she was a punk icon in the UK. I saw her image so many times, and loved her style. She even did (tried to?) some singing; I liked the pics more than the song....
  19. I remember there was some of this here in times past. But I like that there's a whole FB group dedicated to this! "Things with faces"
  20. RIP Jane Goodall....one of the more amazing humans in this world.... https://www.npr.org/2025/10/01/459238450/jane-goodall-primatologist-dead-91
  21. Happy Birthday Wayne!!
  22. Moving aside the near-comic video, I kind of like the group singing. Reminds me a bit of Waulking music like Talitha MacKenzie, and Ashley MacIsaac's Sleepy Maggie
  23. Posted on FB, had an awesome Music and Audio day yesterday. A vendor demo visit to a local dealer, met new people, listened to a near-$500K system, and reminisced with some old coots like myself who loved the Boston music scene in the 70's and 80's. Re-connected with an industry guy who I hadn't seen in maybe 25 years....got a hug of support when we shared our spouses' cancer history. His wife is still living, and I stressed to him to be ever-vigilant and monitor as much as possible; I'd rather scare people a bit and have them advocate than to keep losing lives thinking "I'm 100% cured." I just hope she never has to go back to treatments. But was a wonderful time. I won a raffle item of a McIntosh-sponsored Johnny Cash audiophile LP set. From the original Sun Master Tapes, 45rpm 180Gram vinyl, yada yada. Looking forward to trying it out! On the live music scene, last night an Audio Buddy and I saw Hiromi on her Sonicwonder tour. Just a stunning and engaging show! I last saw her in 2013, and both times were just fantastic. The venue was lovely as well....and an Angel's Envy neat in an "adult sippy cup" (plastic cup with plastic cover to help reduce spills) topped the eve off well.
  24. That IS awesome....but please stay safe!! I hope your voice will be part of a healthy turnaround!
