I thought about Parallels but only thing I really will be using the Windows is to run couple of games, so I stuck with boot camp.

Spent the last 3 hours installing WIndows 7 on MBP using Boot Camp - I had forgotten how long it takes to install an OS from scratch. Now trying to figure out why my wife's laptop has started randomly freezing few minutes after starting.

FW800 to FW400 cable.

Technically yesterday, but tried to migrate pertinent files/info from my broken-LCD MacBook to my MBP, only to find that I've lost my FW800-FW400 adapter. This, of course also means that I can't process (or easily import, for that matter) my photos as I was planning on doing later today as my stupid external drive only has FW400 and USB type B port, the cable for which I also don't have. Argh. If I'm lucky, one of the local stores will have an adapter, though I highly doubt it.

Weird. When I got my discount, I sent a scan of my faculty ID and that was all I needed. They got back to me the next day, too. As for what I bought, got 15" MBP for real this time. The thing is damn fast, that's for sure.

Yeah, those were my thoughts as well. I guess i will be reordering MBP again, after i decide if i really want better CPU/GPU, though I'm leaning toward aftermarket SSD. Now, if they would cancel the temporary authorization on my cc so I can place my order again without being charged twice.

So I'm thinking of grabbing a new iMac, either 27" or 21" with an iPad (assuming I can convince my better half to let me grab two new toys, even though it would be about the same pricewise). Also, 27" is gorgeous, but it may be too big since I want to use it at my couch, placed on some kind of low-height mobile station. Thoughts? Oh and does anyone have a suggestion for the said low-height mobile station? I thought about laptop tables, but iMacs weight too much, I think.

Cancelled my MBP order.

Fuck. I'm half tempted to cancel my MBP order and get a new iMac - too bad I need/want the portability of MBP.

^ That looks really nice. I wish they made a version of Retrospective that can fit a laptop, especially now that my current laptop bag won't fit my new MBP.

Dropped my MacBook off of the laptop table when I bumped into it. It split around the bezel on the screen, along with a nice dent, and the screen is cracked in the corner. It appears to be working just fine aside from the fact I can't see anything. FML.

Why don't you just get a dedicated macro lens? It seems odd to gripe about lack of lens magnification of 85mm lenses when they are clearly not designed for such purpose. Also, at 85mm, you probably get higher magnification with close-up lens than with an extension tube.
