  1. Damn you Doug and your science!!!
  2. FFF jinxproof
  3. I am itching to hear the hd800 again - sennheiser knows a thing or two about designing a high quality headphone that measures like a dream. I'm with Doug in that the 1st time heard them they seemed thin almost shrill, but the comfort is fantastic, the imaging was insane and it's a very speedy can. With the right amp aka not over damping the already pretty well damped headphone I think you might be able to get something really nice going.
  4. I have only used the f1 for what it was designed for, you know, single driver speakers, so I can't attest to its headphone or lcd2 driving capabilities. I like the lcd2 and one of its strengths is that it doesn't require heroic amplification to sound good IMO, compared to some of the other orthos in the market.
  5. I am going to piggyback off this thread and ask if anyone knows of decent speakers that are AirPlay compatible. Would be cool to have them in the kitchen and what not and send random music from the idevice while doing stuff.
  6. Being an F1 owner myself (with the new output jfets mind you), I'm not complaining - I would simply say most users that are using the lcd2 are using something that is giving them the general idea of what they sound like.
  7. Obviously I don't have the measurement gear like Kevin but I think it's a bit silly to start thinking FW to drive these things. No reason to start overhyping the power demands of these cans, they don't need that much to my ears to sound decent. Last thing we need are amp makers creating 50 w headphone amps.

Somewhat off the topic of original thread but how are the newer version hd650's? Apparently a different looking and sounding driver.
  15. http://www.bavarian-lodge.com/Site/Events_Calendar.html Drool. Gotta see if I can sneak out from in-law family time that day.

Larry, Before you get defensive, please understand that most of us are very fortunate to even be in a place where we can afford such luxuries. It is clear you complain yet brag about money enough that it genuinely offends people. We have people starving in this world and unemployment is insanely high, and many of us just don't care about your money issues or having to read about you saving every little penny for a headphone, when there are people out there who have to save every little penny just to feed their kids. That is partially also why Steve made that comment that you don't get it, because you don't, and there is a bigger world and picture and set of priorities outside of your gear lusts and acquisitions. And for Nate, who is 100% class, to get to his boiling point, really says a lot about your insensitivity regarding money and how it makes others feel.
  18. Birthday boy!
  19. Hmmm...sounds just as good with the senns or other high impedance if not better.
  20. Would love to have another listen. Last time I remember them having a brighter tonal balance but I though they were speedy and imaged well.
  21. Completely OT but looking at purrins plots the hd800 sure looks pretty freaking good.
  22. Listen to one first. It's a nice sounding headphone. I had johns rev 1 for awhile and it was very nice, at times a bit lush but still detailed. Imagine a faster more detailed and overall tighter hd650. Rev 2's are popping up cheap used too.
  23. I like Rob as a person and he has always been really nice to me. He brings his kids to all the meets and they are very well behaved and respectful which also speaks of robs character. Whenever I've talked gear with rob in person he has always done it intelligently and when disagreed with never has gotten defensive. While I disagree with some of his aural conclusions I know and trust that their is nothing malicious or conspiratory about his motivations and I do believe he provides a benefit of some sort to the head fi community. His reviews have gotten better, more concise, and he has shown a certain degree of objectivity. That's all you can really ask for from a random Internet review IMO.
  24. Things are always Overpriced especially with the Vintage stuff. However I love them and swear by them, currently owing my 5th set.
  25. Isn't Pete's daytime work actually involve opamp design and construction?
