I haven't listened enough to the HP1 to provide an opinion unfortunately, but the random 10 minutes at various meets would lead me to say that they are about the same, or that the typical hp1000 to hp1000 variation is maintained. I have heard pretty noticeable differences though from one hp1000 to another based on age, usage, and at times have even caught some hp1000's being sold as perfectly functional, but actually had a bad driver (like my current set before I sent to Joe).

If you want a really cheap but ghetto fix, I have used marbles taped to the bottom inserted partially into the hole. Yes, marbles. My first set of cicadas didn't have the spikes and I do believe in the whole decoupling voodoo so I figured I would use a set of marbles, couldn't tell you if it really worked or not but I was happy with myself.

Wow, didn't realize that they were that popular, I must have missed that memo, might have saved my wife and I some neck aches... Chekhonte and others - do you have specific brands that you can recommend? Thanks.

Does anyone use or have experience with memory foam pillows? Memory foam is like the coolest thing with bedding, or at least when I see them at the department stores, but I wonder how memory foam in pillow form works out...

I figured it was implied;)

Thank you for your input.

UPDATE: The wife and I went back and forth...we originally went with a dell studio 17" with intel core 2 duo processor, 4gb SDRAM, 17" HD+ 900p true life, and the upgraded ATI 512MB video card, all for $800, but we cancelled it and went with a cheaper inspiron 17"..same intel core 2 duo, 17" HD+ WLED screen, the standard intel accelerator video card, 4gb SDRAM, for about $600, and I think my wife is happier due to the lower price, and she may actually prefer how the inspiron looks as well. The vostro seemed a bit too chunky/square/business looking for her, she wanted something a bit sleeker and more personal, which at first the studio seemed to fit, but I think the inspiron will be a nice compromise with price and form factor. Thanks for all your help.

21! Now you can finally drink...legally... Take care.

I believe your fix was redundant, the phrase "pre-game" or the verb version "pre-gaming" already implies that the act of drinking is involved, correct?

Which Headphone Amplifier To Get? (New or Vintage)
recstar24 replied to Kitarist's topic in Headphone Amplification
Being filipino, I have seen my fair share of the oldtimers eating balut by cracking it open with a screwdriver and everytime it pretty much makes me sick. -
Last question...is there a real quality difference between the WXGA+ anti glare display and the WXGA+ True Life display? They were both the same price, and the True Life is no longer offered even though it was there a couple of days ago.

I figured as much, considering the box and that I would imagine you would have more than one channel of output:p

More info and pics of Colin's spud amp please:)

Is that a TentLabs constant current filament supply I see in the back there? Noice.

Thanks Dave - right now it seems the Dell is a good option for my budget and my wife's use. Thanks everyone for your input.
-
Thanks Dave - sorry Tkam:p EDIT: In response to Dave's comments, yes my wife is primarily dealing with digital camera pictures and editing, nothing overly professional or huge by any means. And to throw another wrinkle in the mix, whereas before my wife was pretty pro PC anti mac for unknown reasons to me (though my opinion really doesn't count in this matter as I am really just a wallet for this situation), she has thrown out there that she wouldn't be directly opposed to a Mac, which I guess now opens up Macbook options which I believe are supposed to be a little better for multiple window processing and maybe photoshop.

Thanks Dusty - that dell with the upgraded WXGA+ display and the nvidia card puts it around $738, which is fine for me considering my wife has been slaving for 2.5 years on her MBA, the holiday season, and because she never asks for anything and it will be nice to spoil her for once in her life. My proposed $600 budget simply stems from her telling me to keep it there, as she is the type of person who actually would get very upset if I spent too much on a gift for her, even more motivation to try to get her something somewhat nice.

Not necessarily, but if the honey wants it, I can at least explore the feasibility of it. $600 is not rock solid and if needed can go over but its good to start somewhere. Thanks Dusty for being willing to follow up on that, research continues.

Warning: complete laptop newb, heads-up. Looking at getting my wife a new laptop, christmas/MBA graduation gift. Budget is $600 max. Biggest application will probably be the new adobe photoshop 8 that I bought her as well, she loves taking pics and the new laptop should be powerful enough to load full resolution pics pretty fast and for her to edit and adjust with ease. We are windows PC people, sorry mac users, and for her, ease of use as well as her picture stuff are her priorities. Thanks.

Yeah Cotto is no joke a great fighter, but just goes to show you how dominant Pacquiao has become. Gotta love the fact he is willing to go in deep and mix it up, risking taking a punch if necessary. Only one left is Mayweather at this point.
