Unfortunately not headphile has it under proprietary patent try again:palm:

Duh...or nuclear warfare, or acts of god like massive hurricanes. Actually, one of our water pipes busted in the lower level bathroom which is on the same floor as my gear! Luckily I caught it somewhat in time and was able to turn off the water, and get a plumber in within an hour to take care of it. Water seeped into maybe a foot if even of the carpet from the bathroom into the main area. With a pelican, no worries;)

I was one of the first to hear them, as at the time I was writing for 6moons and I did a little headphile bit. The sonic differences are somewhat subtle, I would say it almost sennheisers the sound a bit. With the HP1000's they sound really off though, and prefer the warmer, tonal quality with flats. They are comfortable, but I can handle PS-1's long term just fine with bowls. Those port things may make a difference, I don't remember really hearing more or less ports equating itself into more or less bass, but it has been awhile.

The data, unfortunately, supports that notion fullheartedly:palm:

Ummm...aren't those transformers supposed to be hand wound by Tim, and world renowned for their performance? That is what I gathered in what made the hp4 so special, as well as other Ear products.
-
No you are pretty much correct or I should say that is how I saw it. PS1's came and the price of HP's dropped pretty dramatically. People complained of the PS1 bass heaviness and I remember seeing its used price going down - there was a time when I saw a set of used Ps-1's from Blitzula stay on the boards for a week at $850. I remember looking at it for a bit, and saying, "nah...not worth it":palm: I bet this is how many feel about the mastering label DCC - all those yummy hoffman mastered gold cd's you could have got for $15 or less. I wonder with the HD800 how the NOS vintage market will end up. Also, does anyone know if the HD800 is a limited edition?

That would be great! Thanks for taking the time.

I am not sure if the HD800 will absolve my affliction for the wonderful drug that is known as HP1000. Billy said he would let me have a sniff though when it comes in...though who knows what he will ask for in return:p -

Its like crack - every time I am able to weane myself off of it, I end up coming back. I need to go to Hp1000 rehab for real:palm: everytime she leaves me, the itch just comes back and I end up scratching it:palm: -

Forgive me, senor postjack, as I am currently on my 5th round with the HP1000's. I simply never learn to let them go, or to not let them go. Pray that this will truly be my last time with them:p -
You wouldn't happen to have a model # or pic by chance, would you? I plan on going there in a bit, but would be helpful to their staff if I could give them some kind of direction. This is the one I found from Lowes for $30: Here is the pelican on Nate linked to: The pelican is about 2x as much though.

The best I found so far online is from the local pelican dealer up north for $75 with free UPS shipping. There is one on amazon for $57 but with $17 shipping pretty much same thing. If anyone knows of anything cheaper, great. If not, I will go ahead and bite on this before the end of the day:p EDIT: There is a couple of stock direct from amazon for $61 with their free saver shipping.

Hey guys, Do you have any ideas/recommendations/links to a nice, sturdy, protective case for my hp2's to store when not in use? I searched and saw what postjack used, a quantary camera case, but seemed a bit bulky and overkill. Though it looked nice, and you could cut out the foam. I saw something like this on HF in the pic below, up top: That seems to fit it perfectly, and not be as tall as the one postjack used.

What other customs options are there? I know Westone has a couple. By all accounts the UE10's seem they would fit my bill. Though I should say I have never had comfort issues with the universals though my experience with them is limited. Customs are just so pimp though:palm:
-
I am definitely in the custom camp (unless you think there is a universal that can match them in fit, comfort, and sound). I am leaning towards UE 10's. I think I would prefer their more linear sound signature than the 11's, and they are cheaper. How is the UE sound compared to the shure sound? I have owned e5's, listened to e500's, and both while nice were somewhat bassy and dark sounding, not enough clarity in the mids and highs. The e4's were a bit crisper but lacked enough body and bass for me.

What options are currently out there for hi end iem's? I do not want to bother going through the HF thread. Please chime in if you have any thoughts or experiences to share. All I am aware of are the UE customs.

Wow that is insane. But your ice storms were truly epic. The friday before break was cancelled, which I believe was the 1st school cancellation in my district the past 10 years, so the district has a policy of trudging on if humanly possible. I think ice and severe cold weather are more severe and provide more grounds for school cancellation than snow itself. Sorry for the off topic:palm: -

Nate = hero Here in Chicagoland area it is supposed to be pretty bad. Blowing snow storms with hard winds. Real subzero degree weather, especially with tomorrow. Fingers crossed for school cancellation:p -
That would be the best thing ever...except if you were one of the ebay winners:p
