Your thoughts on power conditioning
For anyone interested I found another similar option to the above Tripplite UPS. http://www.opti-ups.com/ups_detail.phtml?product_id=69 Appears to be pretty similiar to the tripplite unit but has more power for less money...

Stupid Customers
Being in the software industry and with most of our customers being developers we don't run into that many stupid customers but man today I think we found a nominee for retard of the year. We recieved an email from a customer that was having problems placing an order on our website, the first thing I do is check the credit card processing log to see if the card was rejected. Low and behold it was but the funny part is that he tried to place the order 14 times with the following in the "card holder name" field: platinum Pplatinum Mastercard Master card platinum

APL Dac and Transport
Haha, it won't be that bad. I'd expect the DAC to start shipping in august most likely. The transport won't ship till early next year apparently.

Laptop Scroll Bar Won't Work With Opera?
What version of opera are you running? I'm running one of the Opera 9 beta versions and the scroll pad on my Inspiron E1705 works fine with it.

damn it
General rule of thumb for work, if you don't know all your co-workers and don't have a place where you can lock up your stuff don't take it to work. It sucks I know especially in the case of being able to have music with you at work, but its better to not take it to work than to have some jackass steal it.

Big Ben in Motorcycle Accident
In case anyone didn't see it: PITTSBURGH -- On Thursday, Ben Roethlisberger released a statement regarding his motorcycle accident: "In the past few days, I have gained a new perspective on life. By the grace of God, I am fortunate to be alive, surrounded by loved ones and lifted by the prayers and support of so many. I am sorry for any anxiety and concern my actions have caused others, specifically my family, the Steelers organization, my teammates and our fans. I recognize that I have a responsibility to safeguard my health in the off-season so I can continue to lead our team effectively. I never meant any harm to others nor to break any laws. I was confident in my ability to ride a motorcycle and simply believed such an accident would not happen to me. If I ever ride again, it certainly will be with a helmet. My deepest appreciation goes out to the Steelers organization and my teammates for the compassion they have shown me. The physicians and support staff at Mercy Hospital were simply amazing, and I will forever be grateful for their caring treatment. I want to assure everyone I am committed to a complete and timely recovery. I look forward to being at training camp in Latrobe and to winning football games this season." Looks like he'll only miss 2-3 weeks of training camp, you should now be able to hear the collective sigh of relief from Steeler fans across the country

balanced k81djs
I've tried both types in my modded philips and to my ear they do sound identical. You are also correct that the only apparent difference are the build years. How much isolation do the K81DJ provide? They could be a nice pair of phones for use at work for me.

Your thoughts on power conditioning
It has a max of 8.6 amps should be more than enough for all my audio gear.

APL Dac and Transport
Ever since getting my APL modded philips sacd 1000 (which I have loved) I have been hearing that APL would release its own dac and transport at somepoint. Looks like the time for that has come: http://www.aplhifi.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=431 Time to start saving up

Your thoughts on power conditioning
Hehe, it's ok . Headphone amps just don't draw that much power. Hell even my primaluna power amps only draw 210 watts each when putting out their full 70 watts.
-
Your thoughts on power conditioning
The singlepower hardly draws anything and the tripplite is rated for 800 watts.

I don't see why not.

Your thoughts on power conditioning
Well it also does voltage regulation and the battery backup will be useful during the frequent brownout/blackouts we have in the summer here. For me the fact that it runs off the battery all the time is just an added bonus, the perfect sine wave and regulated 120V output are the important factors for me.

Your thoughts on power conditioning
The fan is a bit of a concern but if its too loud I can always replace it with a quieter one. The key to this piece of hardware though is that is always running off the battery, so perfect sine wave 24/7.
