I guess as a follow up to my earlier q's...my first gen iPhone is dying and my Droid Eris is decent but near useless due to battery life. I am going to hold off on any contract moves until the Verizon iPhone comes out, if ever. In the meantime, I guess I'd like to get a 3G or 3GS to replace my first gen. What's the best way to do this without getting toed into ATT for another 2 years?

I don't want an AppleTV, right? But I probably do want an iPod touch, right? Also, is anyone selling a 3G or 3GS iPhone by any chance?

Jeff is It for iPad and iPhone or just iPhone?

The Defender case is no joke. Nice fit and finish, although the screen film thing is a pain in the ass to get on and I can see a piece of lint under it despite my heroic efforts. Regardless, this will be a good family travel case, which is what I was looking for. Next will be a case similar to the Apple one, but you know, better.

Can any of you smarty pantses recommend to me a good book on the Civil War. I'm looking for something that gives a very solid overview, but which is also not too dry.

Sort of the Dinny version of a pentathlon: (1) run 3 miles slowly; (2) swim with Jack (which means catching him as he does flying leaps into the pool while I complain how cold the water is); (3) slurp wine while whining loudly about aching legs; (4) put Jack to bed; (5) repeat event #3. EDIT: Vicki, I had a ridiculous meeting to attend smack dab in the middle of vacation, and I couldn't get out of it. Facetime and all that bullshit. More like :facepalm: time.

Gave a decent presentation at work, got out of a conference call, hopped a bus to East Hampton, ran 3 miles (slowly), swam with little monkey, now watching cartoons on the ipad with him before bedtime. A good day. Bring it Hurricane Bitch! (not really)

Thirded. I have mine running through the D/AC 1000 in my speaker rig and it's all good. Agreed. (well, it does have usb, just not for audio.)

I'm typing this post on my brother's new 13" MBP. There is a LOT to like about this machine. Very nicely done. I just wish it were a bit lighter. And cheaper.
