What did you do today?
That all terrifies me. I remember with extreme fondness returning to (college) campus as a student in the fall. September/October is when I miss it most.

What did you do today?
Spending Day 2 alone with the Little Monkey. He's having a swimming lesson right now with my parents' housewatcher's daughter. God bless her. I do believe she saved his life just by showing up today.

Grado GR8 IEM
the x10 is a very good IEM. I think "outstandingly wonderful" is overstating it. Just a bit.

Networking Alternatives: Powerline, MoCA, etc.?
Naaman, I definitely agree with you (and Dan). If I had it my way, this place would have at least 2 Cat5 drops in every room. But my parents chose not to heed that advice. At this point, with the structure in place, I'm not so sure how easy/feasible it will be to get it wired up. Add to this the fact that I'm not particularly handy.

What did you do today?
Well done, Birgir. Having one beautiful cake ready to go is great. But being able and prepared to go with Plan B with only hours to spare is the sign of a true pro. Did you tell the bride and groom about the adventure?

Networking Alternatives: Powerline, MoCA, etc.?
too easy.

Networking Alternatives: Powerline, MoCA, etc.?
I'd love to fish a line, but it won't be easy here, plus I don't want to cut into the wall and install a box.

Networking Alternatives: Powerline, MoCA, etc.?
It's not really the interference as much as it is coverage. The cable modem is on the second floor, so it's difficult to get that signal in the basement where an Apple TV may go, as well as other internetty stuff. That's why I was thinking that MoCA could be a viable option. Not so much?

Networking Alternatives: Powerline, MoCA, etc.?
Can anyone recommend an alternative to wireless or Cat5? Specifically, I'm wondering if powerline or MoCA are actually viable alternatives.

So in other words, you are in favor of the subforum.

This is kind of what I'm talking about. HT for people who are not totally gung-ho about HT, but just want to share some basic info. Home Theater Lite.

HT Upgrade
This is for their place in East Hampton. I guess jr might deliver.

HT Upgrade
My dad has been trying to find time to build an HT system for the finished basement. But he has no time. So my mother is threatening to go to PC Richard to get whatever they have. A quick browse of the website indicates not good. Are there any reliable one-stop shops on the internets for this stuff. Would need everything from tv to speakers, but doesn't need to be high end.

Inexpensive Active Near-Field Monitors?
For the record, I will own Harbeths one day, but that's neither here nor there. For inexpensive actives, I also recommend Audioengine.
