What did you do today?
Tried to rollover my 401k from former employer and was told that one computer program still had me listed as an active employee, so it can't be processed for 1-2 business days. As nicely as possible I told them, There's a reason I want it today, assholes, and it's been 6 months since I left. Fix it NOW. I was told that they'll call me back today when the problem is fixed. I'm going to file that it the not very fuckin' likely pile.

They were seriously awesome. My dad used to order them all the time. I can't believe I forget the name. And I've been googlin' but I can't find anything like it. Dammit.

There used to be a small company that advertised in the back of Rolling Stone magazine before the Interwebs. They used to sell 10 T-Shirts for 10 bucks or something like that. You would just order your size and you would get 10 different and random brand new remnants, all well made, just overstock for Ralph's Air Conditioning, etc. Does something like that still exist?

cool. You'd think there would be an easy way to export or dump it into a text file.

Discrete op amp?
I have been looking into this more also and have the same question. In particular, I have the North Star m192 mkII DAC, which is supposed to be "better" technically (e.g., better chips, better power supply). But it does not have a discrete output stage (I think I'm saying that right) unlike the mk1. I guess my question is, why would they use ICs for the output stage on the "better" version? As used above "better" is according to north star. Kevin (and anyone else), in addition to my question above, is there a specific area of improvement with a discrete design? Kevin, meet peanutbutter, peanutbutter meet Kevin Gilmore.

I have been very happy with the Klipsch Image x10. If they run another 50% sale, I recommend snatching them up.

What did you do today?
Ugh, sorry to hear that, it sucks. I received many similar letters while in law school. Things will work out for you in the end. But in the meantime, here's a little humorous response to such letters that has been floating around the interwebs for some time: Herbert A. Millington Chair - Search Committee 412A Clarkson Hall, Whitson University College Hill, MA 34109 Dear Professor Millington, Thank you for your letter of March 16. After careful consideration, I regret to inform you that I am unable to accept your refusal to offer me an assistant professor position in your department. This year I have been particularly fortunate in receiving an unusually large number of rejection letters. With such a varied and promising field of candidates, it is impossible for me to accept all refusals. Despite Whitson's outstanding qualifications and previous experience in rejecting applicants, I find that your rejection does not meet my needs at this time. Therefore, I will assume the position of assistant professor in your department this August. I look forward to seeing you then. Best of luck in rejecting future applicants. Sincerely,

Mobile Me Question
Just wanted to take this opportunity to mention how much MobileMe continues to suck. It is basically unusuable for me on a PC with Firefox. Even when it does work, the UI is clumsy, the mail functionality is minimal, and the apps are useless. Apple really really screwed the pooch on this one. I know that has been confirmed already, but it seems to me that they continue to screw the pooch. The poor pooch.
