  1. That's a very nice piece of gear. The thing I like about the HR Desktop is that it has really become a Swiss Army Knife piece of kit, but without sacrificing SQ. Plus you know that it will play nice with just about any phones you throw at it.
  2. Dark Tower was an awesome game.
  3. Just FYI gang, Yama's Inc. finally got back to me with some answers to a few questions. Here are some prices for those interested: SR-404 Headband - $135 Mineral Wool - $15/pr Acoustic Foam - $9/pr They do not sell arc assembly separately, according to Yama, but it is listed as a part in stock at the site that Spritzer helpfully linked to. So I will ask them more about that. Instead of giving me a price for the arc, they asked for the serial number. Why?
  4. Saw "The Wrestler." Big yawn.
  5. It's the GSA GENERAL PURPOSE WRISTWATCH. But this one has MaraGlo instead of the tritium vials for illumination. I know the tritium stuff is safe (enough), but I figured no sense in risking it with a little one around. And it was pretty cheap--$110.00 MARAGLOW INFO
  6. Took the little one to the FDNY museum. He got bored. Then went to the Ear Inn for lunch, which the missus and I forgot is really just a bar. So he went to his first bar today.

    Well now THAT is tempting.
  8. Don't all cats puke, like, all the time?
  9. These suggestions continue to be helpful. Thanks everyone.
  10. Very helpful, thank you.
  11. One of my exact questions to them. What phone was it for and how much?
  12. Does Accutech ever respond to emails?
  13. Ok, so the O2 mk1 is back together. The new screws are perfect. I'll need new arcs at some point, so I have an email in to yama. I learned a bit in this process: 1) I can fix Stax phones if necessary; 2) I no longer want to fix any Stax phones, and 3) I'm just not very good at DIY. Next time around I'll send it to someone who has a clue. In other news, I prefer the O2 mk1 to the O2 mk2.
  14. mini machine screws for the Stax surgery.
  15. I got some miniature machine screws today that appear to match the Stax screws (because I'm not in the mood to wait god knows how long for Yama's to call/email me back). Hopefully the O2 will be back together again tonight or tomorrow. Although I do think I will replace the arcs at some point. Hell, he'd almost be breaking even considering what he paid for them.

Cool! I really like it so far, and it's pretty much a no-brainer at that price.
  17. I think I'm going to call Yama's today to get another arc assembly, and I'll see if I can pry some extra screws from their hands.
  18. This, of course, was the correct advice, which explains why I didn't listen to it. Getting the stripped screw out was very difficult and I ended up nicking the metal portion of one of the earcups. Nothing terrible; a couple of small, visible nicks. But stomach-turning for the likes of us, and I am upset with myself for doing it. I'm no DIY expert, but I do know that these Stax screws with the headphone assembly suck ass. Now I need a new one to replace the stripped one, and I'm not sure where I'm going to get it. Maybe Ratshack. Hardware stores around me tend not to have such miniature screws. Luckily, I do not intend to sell these anytime soon, as I have come to love them.
  19. Crazy glue didn't work worth a damn. Looks like I'll either have to drill it out or dig around the plastic a bit so that I can get some needle-nose pliers to bite and turn. But I'll need to find a pair of especially needle-y needle-nose pliers. What an enormous pain in the ass.
  20. Those fuckers. I figured as much. Thanks.
  21. I read (on Apple's site I think) that fsck is not the preferred mthod when using 10.4 or later. Does this actually mean anything or is Apple full of horseshit?
  22. I'm going to try crazy glue tonight. News at 11!
