Rubbing alcohol seems to have helped. The damn stuff did manage to sink into the edge of the carpet though. Dammit. I think the liquid is turpentine. Any suggestions about how best to clean surfaces that have turpentine on them?

Do you guys remember that desktop thing that seemed to abound in the 80s that was filled with blue and clear liquid and tilted back and forth and when it did the blue liquid separated from the clear and created a "wave" effect? Well, what the hell was the blue liquid? I ask because my son just broke a water filled thing that had the same liquid combination, and the contents have a very strong smell. Almost like industrial strength bathroom cleaner, but without ammonia. Any assistance is appreciated.

I like Blue Jeans Cables a lot. There's also monoprice if you want to go really cheap, but still have some quality. How about Signal Cables? Prices seem reasonable, but I have not heard much about them.

I want to shoot the audio out of the USB port on my Apple Express instead of the optical out. You tell me how. And none of this "it can't be done" nonsense. Thank you for your assistance.

I always felt the DAC1 was shouty and brittle at the top.

Took the Little Monkey to the NYPD Museum. A whole floor dedicated to 9/11, which we didn't let him see much of. We'll have to figure out the best way to explain it to him, as we live about a block and a half from the site of the Twin Towers. But today was not the day. Otherwise, he loved the museum. Not necessarily worth a trip if you're new to NYC, but a good stop if you're around the Seaport and need to kill some time.
