The Ultimate DIY Part 2 ? The KGITSOJC
Very interesting I prefer the old school aesthetic of the original CTC, so I would probably go with Shalco switches for attenuation and source selection.

Record Store Day 2010
Nice haul Mike. Picked up the rest of the MFSL vinyl and Classic Records releases I wanted online (Megadeth Countdown to Extinction, 2 Cowboy Junkies, Allmans Idlewild South) plus the Flaming Lips/Stardeath DSOTM cover clear vinyl from their website. Rough night last night otherwise I would have tried to have got some of the in store only releases, oh well always next year. If anyone has an extra Lennon Singles bag they want to sell send me a PM

Yup one of my favorite Coltrane albums. These 45 rpms aren't cheap but they'll bring my many years of enjoyment, more than any gear that comes and goes.- The Ultimate DIY Part 2 ? The KGITSOJC
Kevin, will this preamp have problems driving long lengths of cable (about 30 feet)? Assuming low output impedances on source and 100k input on solid state power amps.- Your recent music purchases

Love my 4x2 Expedit. Have it nearly full with LPs, I need to pick up a second the next time I'm in MA. Brown-black effect ftw- Tribute Inductive Volume Control and other TVCs
Both sources output impedance around 300 ohm, input impedance on power amps 100k. Output stage is the whatever is in the Assemblage DAC-2, phono is the output stage of the Pearl phono. I talked to a couple of TVC makers including John Chapman at Bent, no one thinks it's a great idea to try and drive that much cable with TVC/AVC. Oh well, keeping the rack between the speakers really doesn't sound very good.- What are you listening to Part Two
Charles Mingus - Dynasty (Pure Pleasure vinyl) great sq- The Headcase Stax thread
Sennheiser USA is a bit clueless about their older product line They can order replacements from Germany if they are OOS.- Is there such a thing as a rack-mountable headphone amp?
I changed out 3 sets of 6DJ8/(1 pair)7DJ8 (one of those 6DJ8s were NOS Amperex) when I had the SHA-1, which was a short period. I would take my M^3 over the the SHA-1 any day. I guess I'd take a Singlepower ES-1 over some of the crap out there as well (McAlister)- Is there such a thing as a rack-mountable headphone amp?
Melos SHA-1 and SHA-Gold both had rackmount faceplates. The SHA-1 chewed through tubes and there is better sound for the money so I can't really recommend it.- Recommendations for jazz bassists similar style of Ray Brown or Paul Chambers
NHOP smokes, gotta find more recordings with him. So far not a big fan of The Trio, but I usually prefer Oscar Peterson playing a bit slower, more soulful pieces.- What are you listening to Part Two

I do have a few LA 4 albums. Great stuff. I didn't know NHOP played with Oscar Peterson, he is one of my favorites as well. Thanks for all the recommendations, this thread got a lot more activity than I anticipated. - Your recent music purchases
