  1. Good stuff Dinny, enjoy! I'd love to hear the TP, some day.
  2. You need to zoom out on those waveforms. Most releases will look super compressed when you're looking at 3-5 minutes in a single frame. Cut out 30-45 seconds and paste it into a new window in Audacity. Those tracks are actually fairly dynamic. edit: ugh 2 mb gif hotlinked, no wonder this page was taking longer than others to load
  3. He has a Pacific Microsonics Model *jealous*
  4. last night Akira Kurosawa Soundtracks, music by Fumio Hayasaka and Masaru Sato vinyl box set
  5. Yes - Tales From Topographic Oceans I was listening to 90125 earlier. That was enough abuse for my poor brain and ears
  6. Hot Rats and KOB sound great on CR. KOB can still be found at a lot of places, don't hesitate on this one since it's the only version on vinyl where the tapes were aligned for the correct speed. I wish I was into vinyl when the 45 rpm KOB was still in print. Brubeck's Time Out is another great jazz album on CR, though my mono 2eye is pretty nice in itself. A few places still have the CR Time Out for sane prices.
  7. Cracking good fun it is. Though everything is pricey as sin that weekend. I had more fun at Casino De Montreal Canadian GP
  8. I will throw in my 2c as someone that tried to organize a conference in Europe- large venue space is significantly more expensive than the US.
  9. edit no i will play their first album, need more jazz fusion in avantgarde metal
  10. edit: I got an email from someone in Japan that Stax should be distributing pads (didn't specify which ones, but I assume at this point it's only MK2; MK1 pads are old stock) to dealers/stores again.
  11. I mentioned it in the Deals thread that people should get the Classic Records releases they wanted before prices shot up after Michael Hobson made the announcement that they were out of business.
  12. Yeah happened back in March. AcousticSounds bought out the remainder of their inventory and increased the prices of most of the stock.
  13. Very nice! Salvatore's review of the Nantais Lenco makes me really want to do something with my L75 or buy a few more as backups \
  14. With the hints dropped in this thread, I am guessing similar to Stax ED-1, except way more awesome since it's a KG design
  15. What did you think of the treble extension on the HF-2? The times I heard them I thought it was very poor. It's true they aren't peaky which is nice. I also like the MS-2i over the HF-2.
  16. I don't hate them, I would never buy another now that I have the Omega 2. I would get a used RS-1 (with flats) over the HF-2 as well.
  17. PS-1 are the best IMO. I'm unimpressed with the HF-2, mediocre all around.
  18. I'm staying in National Harbor and I'll have a rental car. I wouldn't mind driving up to an hour for a good cd/vinyl record store. Also wouldn't mind recommendations for a very nice restaurant, preferably with a set menu with a good seafood entree.
  19. Thoughts on these? Quad esl 63's For Sale | AudiogoN $2600 w shipping seems a bit steep, but it would be around the cost of broken ESLs plus total reconditioning from Estatsolution. I might call to see if he'll accept offers.
  20. I heard both amps on different sources, but have heard a couple of different ones of each of them. I prefer the Dynahi as well, there is an immediateness/realism to it that made me want to keep listening. It's sort of like comparing high end vinyl to high end digital. They're both great. One of them sounds a lot closer to real music.
  21. must have been at least 10 years or so since I have listened to this
  22. Is anyone using a DIY recipe for record cleaning solution? I just finished up the last of my Disc Doctor and shipping costs for large amounts of this stuff isn't cheap so I'm going to try making my own.
  23. king crimson - lizard, nice uk pim rim first pressing vinyl
  24. Celtics wipe the floor with the Lakers
