What are you listening to Part Two
It has its ups and downs. I've played it quite a bit since release, it's a keeper for me.

I thought the HP-1 switches were polarity switches? Hearing speakers out of phase is very distinct. If you have heard them in phase, you should be able to recognize them being out of phase.- Internet speeds - how much is truly needed?
I'm on the lowest end Comcast package and I do a lot of downloading/uploading and I have never considered upgrading. I think it's 5-6 mbps down and .5 mbps up in every area. Unless you mean you can get 3 mb service from another provider?- Watches
The new Explorer 2010 model is so sexy. Only thing that annoys me is Rolex going with the trend of bigger watch faces (39 mm) Ewww, lightning bolt second hand is fail/gimmick IMO- The Orthodynamic Thread
Deceptive name. Powered by beets.- Post what you're watching
Hells Kitchen. Get out you donkey! Gordon you have been missed- Transformer coupled electrostatic amps
Very cool! The amp looks great- What are you listening to Part Two
Sorry Dusty, I think this EP is garbage. It does sound like NIN...NIN at its worst (With Teeth, Year Zero type blandness). At least the stuff on Ghosts was some what interesting. Where the hell is my 10th anniversary Fragile set. We're half way through 2010 already- Vicki...The only Queen at CanJam?
Fitz that is very cool. Glad you too feel comfortable enough at Head-Case to share this with us. Does this explain the "my ass is so sore" post from ***BRENT*** ? I will still probably be able to kick your ass at Gun Game with a laptop track pad though- Converting ALAC files to FLAC
As far as ripping engines go dbpoweramp and EAC are identical and what everything else is measured against. The only benefit I see with dbpoweramp as a ripping tool goes is that you can rip discs that are present in the AccurateRip database in burst mode if the CRC match. I don't mind leaving EAC in secure mode and checking CRCs with AccurateRip, it only takes 5-10 minutes longer per disc, really a non-issue on a multiple core CPU. Also with a lot of my CDs, which are using unique or rare mastering dbpoweramp switches to secure mode if there is no AccurateRip info in their database. So it ends up taking the same time or longer than EAC test and copy any way. The batch conversion features in the full version of dbpoweramp are fantastic. But for my uses EAC is fine since I only rip to FLAC.- The ultimate DIY? A Stax SRM-T2!
Raises hand. That's one of the many reasons I'm not going through with it- The Orthodynamic Thread
Heh the electrostat hate from the ortho crew (cough NoNoNoNoNoNo) is funny sometimes. Compensating is a bitch edit: see the -> (I like orthos) and I vaguely remember trying to explain to Al (while drunk) at DanJam why we like them- Converting ALAC files to FLAC
dbpoweramp does have a more robust feature set than EAC. But I don't see how it is more stable? I have never had either program crash and I have been using EAC for close to ten years on every computer I've owned.- What are you listening to Part Two
a gem I have just discovered in the BN catalog. Love it. music matters 45 rpm- Vicki...The only Queen at CanJam?
It certainly is cool that you guys feel comfortable at Head-Case to share this with us.- Canjam 2010.

Damn Chicago brings the A-game today...- The Quad thread
I decided to go down the Maggie route for the time being, since it has been difficult finding a suitable ESL63 around my area and I am in desperate need of some better speakers. I also got a really nice deal on an Adcom GFA-5800 that will suit Maggies. I still plan to end up with electrostats so if a pair of Quads show up that I'm happy with I'll snap them up, if I end up getting a house built before that happens I'll go straight for the big Sound Lab 945 or Ultimate PX-1 in a dedicated listening room.- Kostas Metaxas recordings
Does the paid membership give you access to full concerts or are the files just snippets?- The NHL 2010 playoffs thread
Other than the White Sox Chicago just has rotten luck in sports, so I hope the Blackhawks win it. Damn the last time I remember them being half way decent was in the early Ed Belfour days...- What are you listening to Part Two
music matters 45 rpm vinyl- i'm on a roll... the kgsshv
Looks like both boards will fit in the Hifi2000 Pesante Dissipante 300 mm depth case (14.75x12") if there is room for the transformer on the back panel.- The analog thread.
New phono stage from John Curl... Orion- The analog thread.
I would try and find a used Pass Pearl, with the Pearl 2 coming out there might be more available on the market. I was quite surprised how much quieter and detailed it is over my Bottlehead. I run a .37 MV cart with the Pearl with no step up, but my headphone amp has a pant load of gain. Though it's not as kind to poor pressings, not really an issue for me since I buy mostly audiophile presses or clean vintage. YMMV I'm pretty much sold on solid state for low level amplification. - Audeze LCD-2
