  1. Whats the deal with this speaker? Anyone heard one? One of my common complaints about modern audiophile speakers is their inability to rock, and one thing to blame this on is very few speaker manufacturers produce speakers with large woofers anymore. We're lucky to find even 6.5" woofers, most seem to top out at 5.25". The Klipsch Heresy III has a big ass 12" woofer, and reviews of this model, which is still in production and "reasonably" priced at about $1600/pair, are generally pretty good. They rock out well, meaning nice midbass thump, at the expense of refinement and resolution. Just curious if any headcasers have any personal experience with these speakers.
  2. Its probably my next watch. It looks pretty flawless. If you pick it up, share some pics with us. I've never personally ordered from Seiya, but everybody says he is the man. Really fast shipping from Japan, and good prices.
  3. Thanks folks! This is the best place on the internet.

  5. new one for me, digging this. super weird stuff. also a new classical musician crush for me.
  6. Ty Segall - Manipulator Do you guys like rock and roll music? http://www.npr.org/2014/08/17/339576574/first-listen-ty-segall-manipulator pretty fuckin awesome.
  7. Really? You think 32lbs isn't enough for 60W @ 8ohms for class AB? not being a smartass, I really don't know.
  8. http://schiit.com/products/ragnarok http://www.head-fi.org/t/731216/oh-schiit-its-the-end-of-the-world-announcing-ragnarok Schiit is doing a public beta. Retail is $1700, public beta folks pay $1500 with a two week return period. Its an interesting amp, the big deal as I see it is it uses the same amplification section for the speakers and for the headphones, not sure if this has been done before in an integrated. Of course this also has the potential for terrible things to happen for that one dumbass who uses his IEMs on the high gain setting. I don't own, nor have I heard, a single piece of Schiit but I admit the company fascinates me. I love of course the sense of humor and the almost complete transparency of their R&D process. If nothing else, take the time to read the Ragnarok FAQ and manual if you want a few laughs. I like that they have no problems poking fun at the audiophile market, we could use more of that kind of levity in our hobby.

    The Killing

Damn, I never even watched season 3! I have two seasons of a top notch show to watch.
  10. Found an appropriate speaker termination for those binding posts:
  11. "While using the HAPS1 with the KEF's at work, you will be able to clearly hear the space around the notes. Beware the roof people."
  12. Oh shit. I'm an SNL nut, Melody and I never miss an episode. The intro isn't going to be the same without him. RIP
  13. That's it, I'm starting an audio review site: www.reksmoons.com You are writing all my reviews and I'll rake in the ad revenue.
  14. I am interested in the HAP-S1, looks like a cool lil' all-in-one box, but what is up with this amp spec: 32 watts x 2 into 4 ohms (20-20,000 Hz) at 10% THD 10% THD? I thought it might be a misprint on crutchfield but everywhere I look its the same spec.
  15. Listened to this last night, really dig it. I can see myself listening to this one frequently. Despite listening to "serious" music "seriously" in addition to rock/pop for the past several years, my comments still don't get any deeper than "i like this" or "i don't like this".
  16. Saw Arcade Fire at The Gorge last weekend. Third time seeing Arcade Fire, first time at The Gorge. The Gorge is indescribable. The most breathtaking venue I've ever seen. Show was awesome too.
  17. straight to the top. great job headcase! I would love to hear some of the higher end Harbeths. I enjoy reading Alan Shaw's posts over on the Harbeth User Group. He seems so... not full of shit?
  18. Lets step down a few hundred grand and appreciate the awesomeness of the Harbeth: I've always loved everything about how these speakers look. Even the little radial drivers are gorgeous to me: Someday I will own a pair.
  19. I was just listening to Hahn's Brahms/Stravinsky tonight. Another one I've had for several years, a wonderful performance, and a flawless recording taboot.
  20. Awesome! My collection of mozart is woefully inadequate. Just bought with some amazon visa points.
  21. Have it, love it. I bought all the Living Stereo SACDs when they were going for $8. Here's one I'm listening to now, one of the first concertos I bought when I got into headphones many years ago:
  22. I've been listening to a lot of concertos while studying for the CPA exam. Generally I think my rock brain can handle compositions with a focus on a single instrument more easily than I can handle symphonies or even chamber music. I can latch on to that violin/piano/cello/whatever and let it be my guide. Care to recommend your most listened to concerto recordings? Pics or links or whatever. Either I can then buy it or be like "yeah I have that one its awesome". Composer doesn't matter. Thanks!
  23. apparently you haven't seen this chart. moar high resolution = moar betta.

    Gas Dryers

We've had a Hotpoint dryer (made by whirlpool I believe) for about 4 years and its the jam. No issues, and it was cheap. Speed Queen sounds like the sweet new FOTM in gas dryers though.
