Ha-Haaa! KGSSHV goes to the moon. Looks like it may have sustained some high altitude damage. BTW, are those resistors in backward?- i'm on a roll... the kgsshv
That thread was a train wreck waiting to happen. I'm glad Nate shut it down. Conformal coating is a great idea if you have plans to send your amp into space or if it is to be used in a corrosive environment. Beware that it is a major pain in the ass to remove if you ever need to replace any parts during rework or repair.- John Fairfax RIP
Thanks for posting that! A charmed life indeed.- Happy Birthday SWT61
Happy Birthday.....and many, many more!- Happy Birthday Edwood
Happy Birthday Sir.- A Bay Area Meet on 2-11-12.
@ Icarium - Glad to hear that you are on the mend. Aint nobody gonna be sticking things in my ears.- slower forum
Water's prolly cold, she's doing a photo shoot. She's the latest Sports Illustrated cover hottie. Her shit is all over the interwebz.- A Bay Area Meet on 2-11-12.

Well done! Would love to hear it.- T2 knob turning
Yeah, I was referring to saw cutting and grinding of gemstones. Actually soapy water is what is used. An emulsifier is required because asbestos isn't "water soluble". The additive binds with it to carry it off and contain it. I suppose that cutting fluid would be preferable in a CNC environment. And yes, I used to work as a machinist and have stood many hours in front of a lathe or mill and had to endure stinky cutting fluid. Once that stuff gets on your skin, "it stays with you". Yuck!- T2 knob turning
Purdy rock, but the shit's poison to work with. Words like crocidolite and chrysotile come to mind. Dont forget your HEPA facemask and flow plenty of water to keep the dust down.- This One Goes to Eleven
Gazing upon all this high voltage goodness gives me a woodie! @KG - Got any proto pix? So what do you use for a psu? Jumper cables to the nearest substation? Is everything rated for ~1KV, or are you stacking components?- Reasonable DIY Project Layout?
If you dont want to look at a big black lump sitting on top of your case, put it inside and swiss cheese drill the back end of the casing in the area around the transformer to help with the heat. To help with shielding, put in a steel "wall" between the trafo and the pcb section.- slower forum
Dude is beyond nimble, sick acrobatics - boggles the mind.- i'm on a roll... the kgsshv
Yup that's normal for unloaded AC output. Once connected to the psu, the trafo output should be more in-line with the rated spec. (+/- 5%) I asked the same question about a year ago when I built mine. Both KG and SumR stated that's A-OK.- And now what did you do TODAY?
The pic of the tow truck hauling the Camry was dragging it from the embankment where the car ended up after the collision. He then hooked up to the front end of the car to haul it away. The left front wheel was gone.- And now what did you do TODAY?
She was doing 50ish in the slow lane during rush hour traffic on the freeway. He merged on from another freeway doing around 90 mph, cut across three lanes and whamo! Impact was approximately a 40 mph differential.- And now what did you do TODAY?
No broken bones, bruised knee, back, whiplash. She walked away from it. So did the kid who obliterated his Camry. Hell she was able to limp the 4Runner home after the Highway Patrol crowbared her mashed rear bumper off of the tire. My daughter who drove to the scene got a iPhone pic of the perp's car being towed away.- And now what did you do TODAY?
Ha! That's how we roll. Picked up the check for my wife's 4Runner this morning. It was totalled when she was rear ended by some kid doing 90. Time to go shopping for another guzzler. She wont drive an econobox. And we cant afford them hybrid things.- i'm on a roll... the kgsshv
Seems to be an error of ommision. I built my KGSSHV off of an older BOM by KG. These days, there seems to be a lot of differing BOMs floating around for the rev8 psu. FWIW, the Mouser part number for this cap on my rev3 BOM is: 647-UPS1H101MPD. It is 3.5mm lead spacing and low ESR. (better!)
